anyone else kinda skeptical about a powerhouse like reshiram being a support, when it could probably just go for a one shot essentially

It seems strange to me that there are more support Pokemon than actual playable Pokemon. Also the roster is pretty small at 16 (with 2 mewtwo's and 2 pikachu's) when they have 650 Pokemon to work with :\

I like the look of this game and am excited for it, but I hope the next one has more playable Pokemon.

Also I wish it had Zangoose and Electabuzz so bad,

@dyketeeth: Balancing issues... Pretty sure the game is suppose to be competitive and it is a lot easier to balance 16 Pokemon than 50 and don't forget fighter and support combinations have to be balanced to.

@dyketeeth: Yeah sorry I'm sure you're not actually dumb; but i do have to point out why your comment is dumb.
First it is in no way strange. Its a completely new style mechanically, visually, and on many other levels for the Pokemon company in regards to their games.
Are you truly surprised that for something that is a first of its type, that the company did not just throw all their resources into a first draft of a project ?

OF COURSE there are more support characters than playable characters. And Christ 16 is not small given the circumstances. It would have required such an insane amount of work to add even a small number of playable Pokemon if you wanted their move set to be anything thats not a copy of another similar Pokemon.
I feel that they utilized the support Pokemon aspect of their game quite well giving different abilities and attacks to Pokemon.
I truly do understand why an immediate response would be to want more that 16 Pokemon, due to the fact that there are i think over 40 times that in the current national pokédex however the game probably benefited from keeping the roster smaller and improved on other areas.

Its often hard for Pokemon fans to accept that there are A LOT of people that consider themselves to be people that 'like Pokemon,' but could not name 6 different Pokemon if their life depended on it. The two Mewtwo and Pikachu; definitely just because of how popular the characters are and it probably saved them a lot of work .

Now, with all that said. Considering the pretty apparent success of this game so far. We will likely get a sequel sooner than later and i'd put my money on it having a larger roster of playable Pokemon. On a side note, yes, Electabuzz would be awesome.

*I will not reply/respond, or even read anything further on this, i normally do not even comment online.

@dyketeeth: Support is much easier to do. MvC had like 10 playable characters and 30-40 supports

It's tricky, but in the end 650 is impossible atleast from balance perspective. What they have now is decent. Atleast they are acknowledging ones like Dragonite. If they turned support ones into real fighters we would maybe get 5 more real fighters, which wouldn't make any difference.

@PrpleTrtleBuBum: I'm not saying they should have 650 Playable characters, just when they have that many to pull from there should be more than there are now.

Also I don't think MvC is a good comparison, doesn't 3 have like 30-40 playable characters? :\ That's much more than 16. What they have now is decent but that doesn't mean they couldn't have done more. Surely they'll add more as DLC but I just wish there were more in there.

@dyketeeth: This is the first game. 16ish is very normal for a first part. MvC, Tekken, Smash, SF all started small. In later games they can copy&paste majority of the roster

If this succeeds well no doubt there will be sequel with more dudes. With first game they want to focus on the concept and balance and see if it was worth the work. And then ofc there's that DLC option

@PrpleTrtleBuBum: Those games were all first made 3 or more console generations ago though, and SF and Tekken had to create original characters. I do understand though, I guess I'm just impatient and want more now :P

@dyketeeth: I agree, I don't like the fact that they have so many support characters. I got kinda pissed when I saw that Dragonite is a support character, lol. They should have just done away with support characters entirely and made more actual characters.

@arcticfire: This whole pokemon fighting game just doesn't make sense. There are way too many pokemon. It would have fit more, if they'd made some rules, like if you could only play legendaries or something. The only good thing from this is that we might a glimphs of an early generation 7 pokemon
