Starfield Shattered Space requires you to complete the quest "Aligning the Houses," which sees you travel to the three Noble Houses of House Va'ruun. You have to complete a series of tasks for each house to receive their help in constructing the Mourning Device. One of the houses you help is House Ka'diq, who is in a standoff with the Zealots. The Zealots have kidnapped their lead scientist, Sahima, as well as other hostages to gain leverage in negotiations with the Ka'diqs.
You need Sahima's research on the Mourning Device to advance the main story in Shattered Space, but getting the research will require you to make some difficult choices. Read the walkthrough below to see exactly how you can complete Zealous Overreach in Starfield.
Speak to Razma and Mirek about Sahima
Your first step in the quest takes you to Razma Ka'diq, the head of the house. After speaking with her, you learn that Sahima and others have been kidnapped by Zealots and it's your job to get them back. The only issue is that Razma doesn't know where they're being held. To assist in that matter, Razma suggests you speak with Mirek, who has been in contact with the Zealots for some time.
Mirek is located one floor above Razma. When talking to him, it's important not to be direct and always stroke his ego. If you continue complimenting Mirek on his work with the Zealots, he'll eventually divulge that Sahima and the hostages are being held at Shadow Station Epsilon. Return to Dazma with this information and she'll state that negotiations with the Zealots will occur right after you rescue the hostages.
Learn about Djimal's alternate plan
Before you leave to go find Sahima, Djimal Ka'diq, Dazma's sister, will speak to you in the hallway. Djimal has some interesting facts to reveal, including that Dazma has been keeping a relationship with the Zealots from the High Council. In order to keep it this way, Djimal wants you to kill Sahima and the hostages so Dazma turns against the Zealots. If Dazma believes the Zealots killed Sahima and the hostages, she won't want to work with them any longer.
You have a choice to either accept Djimal's offer, which can net you 10,000 Credits, not commit to any plan, or outright refuse her. You won't have to officially decide until you reach Sahima and the hostages at Shadow Station Epsilon.
Navigating through Shadow Station Epsilon
When you arrive at Shadow Station Epsilon, which is located north of Dazra, you'll come upon several Zealot enemies and turrets. You can simply avoid the Zealots outside the building and make your way inside. Of course, there are plenty more Zealots waiting for you there as well. As soon as you enter the facility, you'll be treated as hostile by over a dozen Zealots, all of which are level 20 and above.
Kill all the Zealots you can find and make your way to the central area with the shrine. Once here, head to the right of the shrine to find a doorway tucked away in the corner that leads down to another level. There are also plenty of vents and other doors that lead down to the lower level and they're filled with valuable loot. Once you're down at the lower level, eliminate any remaining Zealots and find Sahima locked behind a glass window. From this window, head right down a hallway. In the middle of this hallway, look left for a door that leads into the glass enclosure in the center of the area.
Take out the Zealot guard in the area, pick up the Enclosure Keycard from their body, and then go and speak to Sahima.
Should you kill Sahima or let her live?
If you want to go along with Djimal's plan of killing Sahima, then simply attack her as soon as you see her. You can pick up a computer key from her body and use that on the computer next to her to download the research you need for the Mourning Device. Then, head down another level, eliminate all the hostages, exit the facility, and make your way to the negotiations.
However, this is not the best course of action. Instead, you should speak to Sahima and learn that she has her people's best interests at heart and she's a valuable asset to keep around. After talking to Sahima for a while, agree to go and release the other hostages and demolish a way to escape the facility. Sahima says she will go above ground to control an elevator that will be sent down to gather you and the hostages. In this scenario, all you need to do is follow the dialogue and quest markers, as Sahima does everything she says she is going to do.
Rescuing the hostages and escaping Shadow Station Epsilon
Head down another level from where Sahima is located and find the hostages locked in a cage. Open the cage, speak to the hostage named Gavin, and then continue down the stairs to make your escape. As you head down another level, a strong Redeemed enemy is waiting for you as well as several other Zealot enemies. After defeating the Redeemed and other Zealots, head into every building around the large cavern you're in. You'll find two remaining hostages in both buildings, who you need to set free. One of the hostages is sitting in a firing range one floor up from a weight room while the other is leaning against a computer in the far-back office.
After both hostages are freed, use the elevator that Sahima sent down to head back up to the ground level of the station. Speak to Sahima and say you're both needed at the negotiations. Sahima refuses to go with you but she'll come eventually.
Negotiating with the Zealots
When you arrive at the Badlands Power Station for the negotiations, which is located south of the Shadow Station, you'll head inside a building to find Razma, Djimal, and Zealots arguing. When you intervene, Sahima will appear and blow up the Zealots' plan right in front of them. Sahima threatens to release a virus that will kill every remaining Zealot at Shadow Station Epsilon if the Zealots don't comply with House Ka'diq's demands.
As this is happening, you can either choose to have Sahima release the virus or pass a persuasion check to convince the Zealot negotiator to stop their plans. If you pass the persuasion check, nobody else dies and all sides are relatively happy. However, if you fail the persuasion check, Sahima releases the virus. Regardless of the outcome, Dazma is pleased with your work and you can demand 15,000 Credits for a job well done. Djimal is also not angry at you for letting Sahima and the hostages live.
You can now head back to Dazra with the research in hand, putting you one step closer to powering up the Mourning Device in Starfield Shattered Space.
