The Biggest Games You Can Pre-Order Now After E3 2019 (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC)

The E3 2019 press conferences are behind us, and we've seen a ton of exciting trailers for upcoming games, from Death Stranding and Watch Dogs Legion to Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077. As release dates have been revealed and gameplay footage is shown, many retailers have begun opening up pre-orders for these games, and quite a few of them have pre-order bonuses or various special editions available as well.

While some games are fairly straightforward to pre-order--just pick your system and you'll receive the base game--others get complicated, with three or four editions to choose from and various amounts of in-game loot and physical collectibles available from each. Pre-order bonuses are also a huge thing, and retailers will often offer exclusive bonuses that are worth considering.

To save you from hopping between different websites trying to compare each edition on your own, we've hunted down all that information for you in our various pre-order guides. These guides have all the information you need about a game's pre-order bonuses, what you'll receive from each version, and the different pricing across various retailers. That way, you can make a more educated purchase and end up with the best edition for your budget.

As a reminder, prices and release dates are always tentative, and for games that are still a long ways off, it's possible special editions will be announced in the future even if they don't exist now. Be sure to look at the fine print before you seal the deal. Some retailers, like Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy, have a lowest price guarantee so that if a game's price drops between when you pre-order and when the game ships, you'll be charged the lowest price (or refunded to match the difference). Certain retailers will charge you a bit of money upfront, while others will hold the charge until the game actually ships. Some don't offer refunds; Amazon, on the other hand, will let you cancel at any time with no charge.

Super Mario Maker 2 gives players the tools to design and create their own Super Mario levels for others to play. The game expands on the original with new customization options as well as online multiplayer modes, both co-op and competitive. New assets will be available to use from Super Mario World 3D, along with new level themes. Nintendo is also offering Super Mario Maker 2 in a bundle with 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online, which you'll need to enjoy any of the game's online elements.

In Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, you can assemble your own team of famous superheroes and fight together with up to three friends against notorious villains like Thanos, Sandman, and the Green Goblin. There's a huge cast of playable Marvel heroes to choose from, including the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, and more. The game allows for both zoomed-in single-player and local/online co-op gameplay.

Pre-order bonuses:

The only pre-order bonus currently available is at GameStop, which is offering an exclusive poster illustrated by Marvel artist SKAN. You'll have to pick it up at your local store, so bring your confirmation page if you order online.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood is the franchise's first co-op experience, and it follows the story of two sisters, Jess and Soph, who are searching for their father, main series protagonist BJ Blazkowicz. Their journey takes them on a Nazi-killing rampage through 1980s Paris. One of the best perks of ordering the Deluxe edition for Youngblood is that it comes with a Buddy Pass, which allows you to pair up with a friend even if they don't own the game.

Pre-order bonuses:

There are some decent incentives for securing your copy of Wolfenstein: Youngblood early. If you order either the standard edition or the Deluxe edition, you'll get the Legacy Pack, which includes multiple weapons and outfits used by BJ Blazkowicz in previous Wolfenstein games.

Nintendo's first main-series Fire Emblem game arrives on the Switch this summer, the first main title on a home console since 2007. Fire Emblem: Three Houses centers around the Officer's Academy, a school at the center of a continent called Fódlan. Your customizable character acts as both an advisor and professor to students at the academy, and your relationships with them will affect how they later perform in battle as warriors.

Pre-order bonuses:

So far, there's only one pre-order bonus available for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and it's limited to GameStop. The retailer just announced it's offering an exclusive pin set representing the three houses at the Officer's Academy, while supplies last.

Gears 5 continues the story of Kait Diaz, who was first introduced in Gears of War 4 as a side character. In this sequel, Diaz is embarking on a journey to uncover the truth about her family and her connection to the Locust. The third-person shooter will be available on day one for Xbox Game Pass members.

Gears 5 has quite a few pre-order bonuses. Pre-order any edition of the game or pre-install it with an active Xbox Game Pass membership before launch, and you'll receive the Terminator Dark Fate Character Pack, which lets you play as Sarah Connor and the T-800 Terminator. Borderlands 3 is finally launching this fall, and the first-person shooter is introducing four new Vault hunters--Moze the Gunner, Amara the Siren, FL4K the Beastmaster, and Zane the Operative--along with new villains, the Calypso Twins. Link's Awakening is a gorgeous remake of the classic Zelda adventure, with vibrant visuals that bring Koholint Island to life. In Link's Awakening, which will be the first top-down Zelda adventure on the Switch, Link is shipwrecked on a strange island and must gather eight magical instruments to wake the Wind Fish, the island's guardian and the only one who can send him home.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is an upcoming open-world shooter described as a "story-driven, four-player experience." A sequel to Ghost Recon: Wildlands, the game stars Major Cole D. Walker, a rogue special ops soldier voiced by actor Jon Bernthal. At E3 2019, Ubisoft announced the return of AI teammates, a new community tool called Delta Company, and an upcoming Terminator crossover.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a reboot of the 2007 classic, and besides significantly upgraded graphics, the game also introduces some other big changes, including cross-play across all platforms. Modern Warfare also won't have a season pass, which has traditionally been required to receive new maps after the game's release. All post-release maps and events will be free to players.

Pre-order bonuses:

Pre-ordering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare includes a digital edition bonus item. In addition, both the PlayStation and Microsoft stores are offering a Prestige Token for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and at the PlayStation Store you'll also get a PS4 Dynamic Reveal theme.

Hideo Kojima's upcoming open-world action game starring Norman Reedus, Death Stranding, centers around a theme of connection, and Kojima has stated the player's goal is to "reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society." Kojima recently dropped an extensive gameplay trailer for Death Stranding--you can check out our trailer breakdown for a better sense of what to expect from the game.

Pokemon is making its first main-series debut on a home console with Pokemon Sword and Shield, which are both launching on the Switch this fall. The eighth generation of Pokemon will take players to the Galar region, and as usual, you'll have three starters to choose from: the grass monkey Grookey, the fiery rabbit, Scorbunny, and the shy water lizard, Sobble. More new Pokemon and gameplay details were also revealed during June's Pokemon Direct.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is the upcoming single-player, story-driven game being developed by Respawn, the team that made Titanfall and Apex Legends. The story follows a young Padawan named Cal Kestis, who is on the run from the Empire, and its gameplay includes intense lightsaber combat, Force abilities, platforming, and puzzle-solving.

Doom Eternal's release date was finally confirmed during E3 2019, and fans also got a closer look at the game's intense first-person combat. Doom Eternal is getting Battlemode, a new asymmetrical multiplayer mode where one player controls a powerful Doom Slayer and two other players control demons, who can summon more allies to their aid as they try to take the Doom Slayer down.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won countless Game of the Year awards, earned a 10/10 from GameSpot, and is still considered one of the greatest RPGs of all time--and now, it's finally coming to Nintendo Switch so you can play it on the bus, on the toilet, and anywhere else you fancy. The exact date hasn't been revealed, but we know it's coming out this year and that it will run at 540p in handheld mode and 720p with dynamic resolution enabled while docked. The Final Fantasy VII Remake solidified as a real game that's actually happening during E3 2019, when Square Enix revealed not only a release date but substantial gameplay. The game is confirmed to release in multiple installments, but the team doesn't yet know how many parts that will consist of. One thing we do know for sure: The content in the first episode, which you can pre-order now, will cover two Blu-ray discs.

Initially announced for 2019, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been delayed to March 2020, but Nintendo did reveal its name and quite a bit of gameplay during E3 2019. The game begins with your character being ferried to a deserted island, where they can set up a tent and begin growing their own town through familiar activities like shaking trees and crafting items. Animal Crossing: New Horizons will also make some quality-of-life changes including couch co-op and better character customization.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming single-player action RPG from the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Set in the futuristic, android-filled Night City, Cyberpunk 2077 introduces a world where android body augmentations have become commonplace. The game also features Keanu Reeves, who made an unforgettable appearance at E3 2019 and plays a rockerboy named Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077.

Marvel's Avengers is the second upcoming Marvel game, and it features both solo and four-play co-op gameplay as well as character customization options for playable heroes like Thor, Black Widow, Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America. Developer Crystal Dynamics has confirmed more playable characters will also be available for free.

Pre-order bonuses:

Anyone who pre-orders Marvel's Avengers will gain access to the game's beta, and those who pre-order on PS4 will get exclusive first access. There's no word on when the beta will begin, but it will be available to PS4 players a week before it opens up to everyone else who pre-ordered. Square Enix confirmed the PS4 version will have other "unique benefits" but didn't specify what kind.

Dying Light 2 is the sequel to Techland's 2015 popular open-world survival horror game, set after the zombie apocalypse. Bringing back the first game's well-liked parkour movement, the sequel will feature a greater emphasis on story and player choice, and how both the planned and unexpected consequences of their actions will shape the world. More than just surviving the zombies, the game is also about rebuilding society, and so human factions will be a potential threat as well.

A pre-E3 2019 Bandai Namco leak revealed a From Software-George R.R. Martin game collaboration named Elden Ring was in the works, and during Microsoft's E3 press conference, the title was officially shown during a cinematic trailer. The trailer itself is more of a cryptic teaser, alluding to a powerful Elden Ring that has been shattered by "someone or something." The leak suggested the game will have an open-world format in which the player travels across various kingdoms--but otherwise, we have few other details. Regardless, if you're a fan of From games or George R.R. Martin's works and know you'll be playing, there are already pre-order links available.
