Xbox Game Pass Ends October 2024 With Its Biggest Game Yet

Microsoft has announced the wave of games that'll be closing out October through its Game Pass service, and while Call of Duty headlines the latest arrivals, there are some fun alternatives to look forward to as well.

First up is South Park: the Fractured But Whole on October 16 for cloud, PC, and console. While the previous South Park game--The Stick of Truth--adopted a fantasy setting, The Fractured But Whole shifts gears and goes all in on a superhero theme that pokes fun at shared universes, like the Marvel movies. Available starting October 17, Donut County is a delightful physics-based puzzle game that makes a return to Game Pass for cloud, PC, and consoles, and it'll be joined by the day-one release of first-person stomper Mechwarrior 5: Clans. A direct sequel to 2019's Mechwarriors 5: Mercenaries, this new single-player entry in the series revolves around leading a squad of mechs into hostile territory, but if you're feeling lonely, it does offer co-op support. It'll be available on cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

The main event for Game Pass arrives on October 25, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be the big day-one launch on that service for cloud, PC, and consoles. This year's entry also looks set to introduce some massive changes to the franchise, with the omnimovement system essentially allowing players to live out their own personal action movie. On top of the campaign set in the '90s, there'll be Call of Duty's popular multiplayer and Zombies modes as well.

This will be a three-pronged infiltration, as on October 25, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone will also be available through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Modern Warfare 3 sees Captain Price and Task Force 141 face off against big bad Vladimir Makarov, while Warzone is a free-to-play battle-royale experience that has proven to be quite popular since it launched a few years ago.

On October 29, Ashen will be returning to Game Pass on console, PC, and the cloud. In case you missed it when it was first available, Ashen is an open-world co-op action RPG where you'll explore a magical realm and encounter other players. Closing out the month on PC is Dead Island 2 on October 31, a long-in-development sequel that sees you explore a zombie apocalypse unfolding in Los Angeles. It's cheeky, looks great, and is a fun jaunt across the city as you uncover the truth behind a viral outbreak.

StarCraft Remastered will be available starting November 5 on PC, as Blizzard Entertainment’s classic sci-fi real-time strategy game--and its Brood Wars expansion--lands with improved graphics and audio while retaining its original gameplay. Also available that day is StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection, a collection that includes all the missions from Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void, and Nova Covert Ops.

There'll also be a few games leaving on October 31, so if you haven't played them yet, you only have a few weeks left to try out Inkulinati, Mineko's Night Market, and a several other titles.
