1. Sound Test

   At the title screen, press the following button sequence - Up, Down, Up, Down, A, B, Right, Left, Right, Left, Select, Select, A, B, Select, Select, Up, Right, Down, Left. A number will appear in the bottom-right, cycling from 0 to 255. Use Up/Down on the D-Pad to choose a number. The A Button will play music, whereas B plays sound effects, from 0 - 31 and 0 - 36, respectively. (255 with the A Button also is a mic test.) The rest just crash the game.

2. Mapper Regs Check

   Note that you will need a specially modified NES controller for this, as standard controllers prohibit holding all four D-Pad buttons simultaneously. Hold down all four D-Pad buttons on Player 2's controller and reset the console. Then press A on Player 1's controller to begin the test. If it fails, then "NG" is displayed and the game enters an infinite loops; if successful, then "OK" is shown and you head to the title screen.
