A space aquarium, or a deep and complex 4X space title? You decide.
This is a complex 4X game set in space, by a small developer, with functional but rather simple graphics. By far the most striking thing about this game is that there is an AI setting, 'Reign In Absence' in which the ... Read Full Review

What Gamespot Users have to say about Distant Worlds

Fun and some great ideas but ultimately lacking.
Like other reviewers have said, this game has a lot going for it, but it doesn't quite make it when compared to some of the other great games. There's some very good and original features in this game, but in other areas... Read Full Review

Distant Worlds is a great idea, but the current implementation leaves much to be desired. Keeping an eye on this one.
Distant Worlds tries very hard to take the micromanagement out of 4x games. First off, the game is split into private and government sectors. You'll never have control of private ships or facilities so there goes half th... Read Full Review

An abysmal, insipid waste of time.
I have fell for all the forums out there glorifying the "vastness" and "greatness" of this "game"... if it could be called like that. No folks, this is not a game. It's a simulator, if best described, a crude, blatant si... Read Full Review

A game that looks exactly like what you've been waiting for since MoO2. Sadly first impressions don't always hold up.
I first heard of this game a few days after it came out. At first glance it was like any space strategy gamers wet dream. The universe is well crafted, brimming with life, created with nicely drawn planets orbiting their... Read Full Review

Amazingly good, even beginners can play. A 4x game that almost have everything, its deep and rich in concept.
The game is more likely the same as starships unlimited made also by matrix games. But this is not starships unlimited, it has lots of new features, as well as different in lots of game concept. This is a complex game ... Read Full Review

What if your local accountant tried to make a game? This would be the result. Mind numbingly Boring.
PROS ========= - It's a space empire game, and you know how rare these are. - Depth, maybe too much of it. However it suggests that if you really spend the time to learn the game and understand it, it might be rewar... Read Full Review

Best 4x game played to date, will rival Alpha Centauri for replayability and addictive gaming.
Sure there are issues because of the small publishing team (one designer), but with three patches released within 2 weeks of the release and what looks to be continuing support up to the same standard, the wrinkles will ... Read Full Review
