Quickly Level-Up Weaponry
In this game, your weapons will level-up at regular intervals: every time you use the Fight command, the equipped weapon(s) on the character gain 1 "skill point", a stat you don't get to see. When a weapon reaches 100 of these skill points, they level up and thus allow the wielder to deal additional hits with that weapon in battle. There is a glitch in this game that allows you to level them up even faster: when in-battle, select "Fight" and then cancel during the target selection. That will still count as one skill point for the weapons equipped, even though no actual attacks occured. This can be reiterated many times to quickly level up your weaponry early in the game.

Dual-Wielding Bug
When a character wields two weapons at once, they're supposed to attack once with each weapon, and the animations in the game seem to indicate that. However, the damage is only calculated based on the weapon in the character's dominant hand, as if it is being used in both slots. This can be abused by having a character wield an extremely powerful weapon in their dominant hand and a weak, inconsequential one in the other.

Remove Enemies from Battle
There is an interesting glitch with the Wall spell: if enemies get Wall on them, and then Toad, Warp, Break, or Death are used on the monsters, the monsters are removed from combat. No enemy can use Wall on themselves, however, so you'll have to do it yourself and then use one of the aforementioned spells to kill the enemy to take full advantage of this bug.

''Peninsula of Power''
Much like in Final Fantasy I, the overworld in Final Fantasy II is divided into square regions, with each region having a preset list of possible enemy encounters. Also akin to FFI, the geography of the FFII overworld, alongside this division innto square regions for enemy encounters, leads to a glitch early in the game. If you go due south of Altea and to the end of the peninsula there, and walk back and forth along its southern tip, you will fight against enemies not normally found in this area: instead, they are generally found in the area around Mysidia, which is much further ahead in the game. This can make it easier to quickly earn Gil and weapon/magic levels, although the battles are much tougher than normal, so be careful!

View World Map
When you have obtained the Ring from Scott early in the game, there is a hidden effect to it. By pressing Select and B simultaneously (it must simultaneous or the Row screen will appear instead), you will be able to see a globular view of the Final Fantasy II world.

The Blood Sword
In the southwestern corner of Fynn, when the cyclone appears and destroys much of the overworld, you can speak a man inside a house about the cyclone. As a result, you'll receive several items, including the Blood Sword. The Blood Sword is what would seem to be a terrible item, boosting no stats whatsoever when equipped. However, it is capable of making two bosses much easier to win because, when used, the Blood Sword will deal extremely heavy amounts of damage to them. Those bosses are both against the Emperor in the Cyclone and in Palamecium. There is nothing special that must be done to draw out this hidden property of the Blood Sword: simply equip it and use it.
