Apparently, what happens on SR-388 happens after the events of the Metroid Prime cycle. So yes, you need this game.
The Metroid series was a slow developing one in the beginning. After liberating Zebes, Samus lovers would have to wait five years before stepping back into the Power Suit, and they would have to do so on a 4-colour scree... Read Full Review

Very smooth GB game.
Good - shooting down in mid air helps a lot. Crouch shooting is nice.- enemies are less frustrating to deal with. Much easier than nes game.- enemy movement isn't overly sporadic, spawning randomly and following Samus th... Read Full Review

Metroid 2 as my 1st videogame
Return of Samus was the 1st videogame I ever played (I was 9 at the time) and maybe that clouds my judgement at least a bit, but the game's great anyway. I've replayed it dozens of times on my gameboy. It's the best blac... Read Full Review

Nice, challenging "Metroid" game that's a little on the short side.
When it comes to the "Metroid" games, I only consider the 2D "Metroid" games to be the REAL "Metroid" games. As far as I'm concerned, the 3D "Metroid" games are an abomination to the video game world and should rot in th... Read Full Review

...and the winner for most needed remake goes to...
The idea of hunting down the rest of the Metroids is certainly a fun one at least, and the fact they have so much impact on the environment that you actually change it by killing them is cool. It really brings a differen... Read Full Review

Great game that is just misunderstood by many. And they fail to see what this game really did for the series.
This game did allot for the metroid series but many just shrug it off. this game is an amazing metroid game(my favorite in fact) and an amazing gameboy game.. while the game lacks in the story and SFX departments, it mak... Read Full Review

Some people say, this is the weakest title of the series. Let's find out if there's something true about it...
---------------- Introduction ---------------- "Metroid II: Return Of Samus" is the sequel to Metroid for the NES and the second game in the Metroid series. It was released in 1992 exclusively for the Game Boy. It's a... Read Full Review

Metroid II has aged into a ugly, inconsistent mess that can't even be recommended to the most diehard Metroid fans.
Pros: Actually kind of long for a Game Boy game; There is still something satisfying about exploring new areas Cons: Repetitive, linear progression; Inconsistent level design and difficulty; Fairly short; Ugly art des... Read Full Review

Not the best in the series but one of the best Game Boy games.
The first Metroid rocked gamers all over, creating the most expansive and immersive world seen in games since The Legend of Zelda. Revolutionary platforming mechanics, a badass arsenal and one of the first female heros b... Read Full Review

Pros.: Nonlinear gameplay - Good Endings Cons.: Too Sluggish Controls (at some point)
By 1991, Metroid fans were getting restless. It had been five years since we last saw Samus Aran in action. During that time, all the biggest titles in videogames had been getting sequels -- Mario, Zelda, Mega Man, and C... Read Full Review

If you like any other Metroid game I reccomend you buy this!
There's only two flaws with this game; 1. You can't aim diagnally, I obviously didn't take points off this because it's impossible for a gameboy game but still wanted to put it in here. 2. Blocks you need to blow up to ... Read Full Review
