Despite its tiresome platform puzzles, Rise remained one of my favorite shooters throughout the ‘90s…
I retired my copy of Rise of the Triad years ago, but I can still recall the sights and sounds of the Dark War as though I just played through it this morning. Rise was among the very first FPS games ever made, back in ... Read Full Review

A good shooter with cool graphics, neat weapons and features, and the best Wolf3D engine based game around!
Dual pistols, Heat Seeking missles, bloody explosions, and killer columns are found throughout the land that makes up Apogee's Rise of the Triad, or as many abbreviate it, RotT. Triad was created by Apogee Software,... Read Full Review

Facing labyrinths and lots of obstacles is strangely fun in Rise of the Triad.
After the release of Wolfenstein 3D (1992, id Software), many developers started to work on First-Person Shooters. Between many games released back in those times, Apogee Software came with something really different. By... Read Full Review

Over-the-top gory & quirky FPS experience from now disfunct 3D Realms, cannot keep up with their other titles though
Rise of the Triad: Dark war, or oddly enough abbreviated as ROTT is Apogee's (later 3D Realms) follow up game to Wolfenstein 3D, but it soon departed from the former's style and visuals, becoming a game of its own. Obvio... Read Full Review

This was THE game that no other was like at the time.....
I remember first hearing about this game through a very close friend of mine who got it for Christmas and was insisting that I try it. So he brought it over and it was on CD-ROM (which was very rare at the time) and ins... Read Full Review

The first true 3D FPS enviroment that allowed players to walk on and under the same platform.
A little underrated and obscure title, Rise of the Triad, or ROTT, was a fantastic title. If you can find a copy, it's worth a play. This title was built on Wolfenstein 3D's engine and was released about the same time... Read Full Review

A very under appreciated and revolutionary FPS game!
This game was doomed to failure mainly because of the release date. It was released a couple of months after Doom 2 and something like two days before Heretic...way bad timing!!! The game used a re-written Wolfenste... Read Full Review

Phenomonal! Under-rated! Addictive! The First Truly Great Multiplayer Game!
This game was outstanding! It was a sleeper released in the shadow of Doom and so did not receive as much recognition as it should have. My friend and I played the 2 player modem game to death! We were absolutely blown a... Read Full Review

One of the most underated FPS of all time.
First of all, Rise of The Triad: Darkwar was a very underated game. How come there isn't any review made by gamespot? It's unbelievable. I know that people were totally blown out by Doom 2, but this game was (well, perha... Read Full Review
