    Start the game in Normal mode and enter the Status screen. Once in the status screen, hold Left on Controller 2 and press Right + Select on Controller 1. If done right, you'll arrive at a screen with a portrait for Kunio and Riki while the Double Dragon theme plays in the background.

    To find Merlin's Mystery Shop go to the Armstrong Thru-Way. Once inside press up at the top wall and the wall will open. Inside you can buy the best items in the game.

  5. Dont lose half your money when you die. (2 players only)

    In a 2 player game, when one player is running low on health have the other first leave the screen. Then have the player in need of health kill their own character. When the low health player dies, as long as the other character is out of the screen waiting to go to the next area, he will retain all his money. If there are no holes to jump in or the enemies are taking to long to defeat the character, it might be preferable to have both characters go near the edge of the screen and have your teammate beat you up till you are defeated then immediately run out of the screen.

    If you have a extremely low reputation and you defeat Thor/Kobayashi, when you enter the Back Alley, Titus/Todo will be there to comment about you being a jerk and then fight you. He's the weakest enemy in the game and drops 1000 $ when defeated!

  2. Fight Slick with Zombies

    Usually Slick will instantly kill any Zombies in your gang, claiming that it's "not their fight." As soon as he kills them, leave the screen and come back, they will reappear in your gang and you can have the extra support in beating Slick!

  3. Hidden Shop

    To find the game's Hidden Shop, go inside the Armstrong Thru-Way and press Up when you are standing between the fourth light and the fifth light (make sure you are against the wall). The shop sells many useful items, including some that can boost your stats.

  1. Debug Mode

    At the title screen, select the "Key Assign" option. Once inside, use the X68000's keyboard and press Enter to change the keys of both players. The symbol/English letter will be on the left and the Japanese character on the right. Player 1 keys should be changed to: Comma (ne), Z (suokon), Colon (ke), Z (tsu), B (ko), 4 (u). And Player 2 keys should be changed to: F (ha), U (na), C (so), K (no), B (ko), 4 (u). Now, start the game and press the following keys to turn on/off different effects:

  1. Jump Kick Cancel

    Running and jumping while kicking in the air does a karate kick that has more power than your typical regular kick or even Dragon Feet would do. If you do this running air kick before you hit the ground you may have noticed your character, Alex or Ryan, will do a small jump and be back on the ground as if they jumped off a box or tire. Take this trick further with these steps
    1: Do a Running Air Kick as usual, but before you hit the ground ( About 1/8 - 1/2 Seconds before the game recognizes that your character has landed on the ground )
    2: If your character does the jump animation, good work, now time your B Button Presses and continue pressing B, but don't press it too fast or too slowly.
    3: If your character continues doing the Running Air Kick and Jump animations, congrats, you've now mastered the Jump Kick Cancel.
    With this faux technique of sorts, you can avoid enemies as they will consider the player on top of a ledge or tire, damage bosses and combo them easily, combine Acro Circus with the Running Air Kick and do even more damage, etc.
    The more you power up your Kick stat by any conceivable means, the more damage this fairly easy attack will do, effectively clapping bosses easily, taking care of those annoying cronies that like throwing you around, and even sending boxes, tires, and trash cans even farther with greater damage being dealt if they crash into anyone.
