Shining Force Cheats For Genesis

1. Equip Cursed Ring without getting Cursed

   In the game there are 2 rings (Black Ring and Evil Ring) that, when equipped on a character, curse said character. However, both rings give a good attack boost (+6 and +8 respectively), so there is some benefit to equipping them.
   
   In Chapter 7, after defeating the Chaos Boss, you will enter a shrine where you are going to make the Chaos Breaker. In order to make the Chaos Breaker, you must give up the Sword of Light and Sword of Darkness.
   
   The Sword of Darkness also, when equipped, will curse the wielder. However, if the Sword of Darkness is equipped by Max when he gives it up to make the Chaos Breaker, the curse will be broken.
   
   If Max has both the Sword of Darkness and either of the rings equipped, then the Sword of Darkness will be lost, but the ring will still be equipped. However, the game will think that Max should not be cursed because he gave up the Sword of Darkness. Thus Max will no longer be cursed, but the ring that was previously equipped will still be equipped.
   
   Thus Max can have a cursed ring equipped, but not be cursed.
   
   Unfortunately, this trick only works on Max as all other sword users either cannot equip the Sword of Darkness, or they cannot equip the cursed rings.

2. Rename All Characters

   Start a new game and go to the "Name Your Character" screen. Highlight "End" and hold A+B+C+Start on controller 2, then press A+C on controller 1. If done right, you'll jump to the next character. To jump to the next character, just hit End. No need to keep entering the code.

3. Anri's alternate costume

   During the Laser Eye battle in Chapter 3, search to the left of the three dark elves. You'll receive one of the hidden items in the game called Kitui Huku (Tight Clothes in Japanese) give it to Anri and she'll have a new outfit.

4. Tao's alternate costume

   In Chapter 3, after fighting the first battle to get the Moon Stone, go inside the cave and search the walls and you will find a secret item called the Sugoi Mizugi. Then, give it to Tao, and now she will have an alternate costume in when fighting in battle.

5. Avoid Party Members

   The game forces you to allow Tao, Ken, Lowe, Hans, and Luke to join the party before the first battle of the game. There is a way to avoid getting these characters in your party. To do this, when in town at the opening of the game there is a gate but two guards will stop you if you try to leave. There is a blond man in a purple vest near the gate and if you stand one space above him, you will eventually force him to step in the path of one of the guards. At this time you can run past and exit the gate and the guard will not be able to block you. This will send you to the first battle with only Max, making the game quite difficult. Also, even though you avoid taking these characters in your party, they will still speak during some of the cut scenes.

6. 2 jogurts?

   If you put jogurt in your army and kill an enemy with him you get item jogurt ring use in battle on any character and they will look just like a jogurt too! repeat as many times as you want but you will have to get another ring when it breaks.

7. Spell level range

   As soon as you get Heal 4 and try to use it, press Left to change it to level 3. The spell range of 3 spaces will flash. Then press B to change it back to level 4. It will have the same range as level 3

8. Get Adam without defeating Chaos

   Before the battle against Chaos is over, cast egress. Adam will be at HQ, and will be battle-ready. Normally you would have to speak to him after the battle, giving you the chance to miss recruiting him.

9. unlockable characters.

   you should see Arther on the way to Anri talk to him then do the cavern battle come back and talk again.	Arthur. chapter 2 also.
   In the town you get Anri and Arthur go to the northwest door in the room with books and search the machine then after you kill elliot hatch it.	Domingo. 2 again you get him in chapter 4 after some guy hatches the egg for you.
   Before fighting the first battle leave and go to the tiny house then go left of the house and then go north then talk to him.	Gong. chapter 1.
   Search the bush with a flower in it near entrace to town.	Hanzou. chapter 8.
   not realy hard to find. This guys in in Pao go behind the priests table BEFORE Pao leaves.	Jogurt. chapter 4.
   in chapter 3 after doing the quary battle go left until theres a cliff then enter the door go down the stairs and search the engine then go outside.	Kokichi. chapter 3 p.s. you get him when Pao leaves in chapter 4.
   After getting out of the castle and being locked in jail go northwest and search the small note on the side of the house.	Musashi. chapter 7.

10. Debug Codes (Japanese Version)

    Hold Up+Start on controller 2 and then reset the game. When the Sega logo appears, release the buttons and immediately hold A+C on on controller 2. Release the buttons when the story screen starts.
    Now, when continuing or starting a new game, wait until Simone says her last line (if it's a new game, she has 2 lines. If continuing, she has 1 line) and hold the following buttons. If done right, the screen will fade and it will load into the debug menus.
    Additionally, regardless of the debug option selected, the main character will have max stats and if hold A+B+C after any attack, you'll automatically win the entire battle when you go back to the battle screen.

13. Extra Goodies in Dragonia

    When you enter Dragonia in Chapter 6, you will find 2 chests in the town. On the top right is a Broad Sword and the top left is a Halberd (if you go down and up the stairs, you will find another chest with a Shower of Cure). When you enter the Kane battle, you will see the same two chests closed, but accessible. If you search the top right chest (where the Broad Sword was) during the battle, you will find another Shower of Cure. If you open the top left chest (where the Halberd was) you will find a Healing Seed. These items are only available during the fight with Kane, so if you do not get them during the fight, they will not appear after the fight.

14. Hidden items

    There are some items that are hidden in parts of certain battles, but they don't really have any use.

15. Sound Test

    Beat the game, allow the ending to completely finish and the game to reset. The sound test is opened by loading a saved game or starting a new one, and entering the code while the screen fades to black after Simone stops talking.
