Extra Dark World 1-Ups
The first time you play Bowser in the Dark World, you'll find only a single 1-Up in the seesaw area near the end of the level. But if you beat Bowser in that level and replay it, there will be two more 1-Ups in that area. If you replay the level after beating Bowser in the Fire Sea, you'll find a fourth 1-Up on one of the overhanging platforms above the seesaws.

Bob-omb Battlefield Warp 1
There is a warp in Bob-omb Battlefield that lets you get from one side of the level to another quickly. After going up the first slanted bridge, go right and stand in the flower bed. The game will warp you to another flower bed, near the mountain. You can also warp from the flower bed next to the mountain to the flower bed next to the slanted bridge.

Avoid Fall Damage
If you do a dive then press A or B when you land to roll out of it, Mario will never take fall damage after landing from the roll out. This can be used to fall great distances without taking any damage by doing the roll out near a ledge, then moving Mario off the ledge.
The easiest way to do this is to do a side flip near the ledge, then dive as Mario is approaching the ground. This works because when you do a side flip, pressing B will always make Mario dive, regardless of how quickly he's moving.Contributed by: NCloud

The ''M'' Lives
Note: This trick only works in the Japanese Version.
If you can manage to collect 1,000 or more coins in a level (This is possible in the "Bowser in the Dark World" level), you will have a green "M" appear next to your lives and you will instantly have 25 "M" lives.
"M" lives work opposite of the normal lives. Whenever you'd normally lose a normal life, you'll gain an M life, and vice versa. If your M lives top M128 or go below M0, you'll go back to normal lives.Contributed by: baconlabs

A Bob-omb Magic Trick
Go to Shifting Land Land and do the "Another place for a second hat" trick. Now go back to the start and pick up a Bob-omb. He'll magically disappear, and you are holding your hat! The smoke sounds wil still be there, but Mario will be holding his red cap like a Bob-omb. Don't press B and wait. Woah! The ticking sound stopped, and no explosion happened. Where did the bomb go? Now, go to one of those tornados in the quick sand and keep on going into it until---the Bob-omb comes out of you and explodes! Cogratulations! Mario has done his first magic trick!

Easy 1up Mushroom/ Infinite 1up Mushroom
In the level "Vanish Cap Under The Moat" you can gain 3x 1up mushrooms on the first hill. Then you can jump off the edge of the level and not loss a life. This gives you three lives in a matter of seconds.

Water Rise in Wet Dry World
There is a way to control how high the water level is in Wet Dry World when you enter it. If you jump high into the painting, the water level will start off high. If you jump low into the painting, the water level will start off low. There are several differents water levels that it can start as, and these are determined by how high you jump into the painting.

Tall, Tall Mountain Warp
In Tall, Tall, Mountain, there is a warp that makes it easy to get to the cannon. In the area with all of the mushrooms, you will see two tiny mushrooms that are next to each other. Jump to the second tiny mushroom, and you will warp to a hidden area below the mountain. From there you can head to the cannon. You can also warp from the hidden area to the mushroom if you decide not to use the cannon.

Whomp's Fortress Warp
There is a warp in Whomp's Fortress that makes going up the fortress a lot easier. Go until you reach the area where a Thwomp is pounding the ground. There are several regular boxes and a red ! box there as well. Stand in the corner between the wire wall and the fortress wall. The game will warp you to a ledge coming out of the fortress, next to a large pole. You can also warp from the ledge to the area where the Thwomp is.

Shifting Sand Land Warp
In Shifting Sand Land, head over to the tree that is next to the oasis. Stand under the tree, and the game will warp you to a metal platform in the quicksand area. The cannon is there, as well as a black brick block. You can also warp from the metal platform to the tree.

Bob-omb Battlefield Warp 2
There is a warp in Bob-omb Battlefield that allows you to go up the mountain quickly. Begin by heading up the mountain until you come to the first indentation in the mountain that metal balls come out of. Go into the indentation, and stand there. The game will warp you to another indentation higher up in the mountain.

Cool, Cool Mountain Warp
At the beginning of the level, turn around, and you should see a broken bridge. Walk to the very end of it, and you will transport to the bottom of the level, near the big penguin. Stand at the end of the broken bridge you end up at, and you will warp back to the top. You can use this warp to get between the top and bottom of the mountain easily.

Another place for a second hat.
In the sandy world go to any star past number 1 and get your hat stolen by the big bird that was carring the star (you can usualy find him near the pink bomb-bomb's pillar) then go punch or kick or just jump on the bird WITHOUT getting the hat next go to the palm tree near the pink bomb-bomb and warp the more times you warp the more hats there are. eventualy after about 50 hats are on the screen the game will freeze. if you grab your hat when there are 2 or three there you get to wield your hat as a weapon. I think its kinda funny beating up those two hands with your cap he he.

Control the speeds in the Tick Tock Clock.
In order to control the speeds in the Tick Tock Clock, you will need to play close attention to the minute hand. When the hand is on the 3, the platforms in the clock will be slow. Like wise 6 will be erratic speed and 9 will be fast.

How to get a second hat for Mario.
Go to snowman's land, the one with the big snowman. Climb up the moutain and let the snowman blow your hat off. Then go to the two warping trees next to the frozen pond. Go through them and the cap will have another hat on top of it. Once you get your hat, there will be another one on the ground. Go get that one and Mario will have it the rest of the level or untill you exit the game. Mario can use his hat as a weapon, it does double damage to enemies.

Control camera during credits
To control the camera during the end credits, simply beat the last Bowser with a controller pugged into port #2. During the credits use the controller in port #2 to control the camera.

Yoshi
Once you have gathered 120 stars, jump into the now open cannon outside the castle. Shoot onto the roof and talk to Yoshi. He will give you 100 lives and an improved triple jump.

Extra Coins
Whenever there is a post in a level, if you run around it 5 times and some coins will pop out. These are good if you need more health or need to collect 100 coins.

Wet Dry World Warp
When you enter Wet Dry World, make sure the water is at the absolute lowest level. Walk to the opposite end of the stage, where you'll find the switch that brings the water to its next level up. Don't touch it. Instead, look for the three-tiered stone structure to the right; it's the only one nearby that doesn't have any arrows on it, and it has another switch on top of it. Instead of climbing it, stay on the ground level and walk to the corner where the first tier connects to the rest of the structure. There is a hidden warp point that will transport you to the cannon at the top of the stage. You can also warp back by walking to the top left corner of cannon's rim.

Butterfly Transformations
There are a handful of places in the game, such as Whomp's Fortress, Tiny-Huge Island, and Tall, Tall Mountain where you can find groups of three butterflies. If Mario comes into direct contact with them, there is a random chance that they'll transform into objects. Normally, one butterfly will transform into a 1-Up, while the other two don't transform at all. But if you do this specifically in Tiny-Huge Island or Tall, Tall Mountain, there is a chance that one butterfly will transform into a 1-Up, while the other two transform into bombs that will chase Mario.

Tall, Tall Mountain Shortcut
When you start Tall, Tall Mountain, don't go forward. Instead, turn around and head to the opposite end of the cliff. You'll see a 1-Up Mushroom right on the corner edge. Collect it, and then jump off the edge. Mario will get caught in a gust of wind that will carry him to a ledge much higher on the mountain. Also, the ledge he lands on is also right above the alcove that houses the Mysterious Mountainside star. You can use this shortcut to obtain the star without having to climb the mountain or go down the hidden slide.

Lava Slide Kicks
If you do Mario's Slide Kick from solid ground onto a lava surface, the first bounce will not cause damage or trigger the burning animation. This also works if Mario is sitting and sliding down a surface before hitting lava.

Infinite Coins In Snowman's Land
In Snowman's Land, there are enemies called Moneybags. They look like a coins, but if Mario gets too close to one, it'll morph into its true form and hop around, and then transform back into a coin if Mario moves far enough away. However, if you get close to a Moneybag just as it's transforming back into a coin, it'll activate a glitch that spawns a second Moneybag. Since killing a Moneybag gets you 5 coins, you can acquire infinite coins using this method. This can be repeated multiple times, but having too many Moneybags active at the same time will eventually crash the game. Also, entering and exiting the igloo will cause all Moneybags to disappear, making the glitch impossible to perform without reloading the stage.

Lethal Lava Land Warp
At the beginning of the level, turn left and jump to the island with the Wing Cap block on it. Stand in the center of the island, and you will warp to a hole in a metal wire platform, right under an eyeball enemy. You can warp back and forth between the hole and the island.

Rainbow Ride Warp
When you float through the house during Rainbow Ride, jump off the carpet and walk outside to to the balcony. Stand on the center edge of the balcony, and you'll be warped to the top of the Red Coin Maze, next to the 1-Up block.This warp works in both directions.

Tiny Huge Island Warp
When playing on Tiny Island, there's a chance you could be stranded on the separate floating island once the path of blocks disappears. However, there is a way out. Stand in the bottom righthand corner of the floating island, where there's a coin. You'll be warped back to the pipe with the pipe, small Piranha Plant, and the switch. Unlike most warps in the game, this is a one-way trip.

Snowman's Land Warp
When you enter Snowman's Land, turn right and head for the tree in the far corner. If you stand under it, you'll be warped to the water at the base of the mountain.

Shifting Sand Land Pyramid Warp
When you enter the pyramid, turn right and climb on top of the mummified Thwomp to reach the second floor. Then climb the nearby pole to reach the third floor. Once you get up there, go directly behind the pole, to the left of where the wall juts out. It's a hidden warp point that will transport you to the top of a metal platform, where you'll find a free 1-Up. Unlike most other warps in the game, this only goes one way.

Reduce Fire Damage
Whenever Mario takes damage from fire, an internal counter increments every 1/60 of a second until a certain threshold that tells it to stop applying damage to Mario's health. Interestingly, as compared to staying simply on the ground, if you're in the air this counter goes up 50% faster. Thus, if you wish to reduce the fire damage Mario takes, jump around as much as possible while he's burning!

Damage Negation Glitch
If you happen to take damage while simultaneously having it healed, the two negate each other outright and you will suffer no damage. An example of an application of this would be falling from a great height (which normally would take 4 chunks off your health) but landing on a Coin (which normally would heal 1 chunk of health) - even though this should have resulted in you taking 3 chunks of damage overall, you'll find that you have received none!

Complete Game With Only 16 Stars
(Note that any of the glitches mentioned below can be performed individually for their respective purposes: to unlock bypass the 30-star door, the 50-star door, and the endless stairs towards the final level.)<p />
Play the game up until you beat Bowser in the Dark World and thus have 15 stars. Capture MIPS the rabbit in the basement. (For a true minimalist playthrough, don't grab his star or you'll end with 17.) Place MIPS at the corner of a wooden door and Mario should glitch through the door. Hold Z to crouch, face MIPS, grab him, and place him on the other side of the door. Go through the door and you can grab him on this side. Bring him to the 30-star door. You can run through the corner of the door while holding Z. You can then complete levels in the area beyond there, and, after the completion of just one, unlock Bowser in the Fire Sea. Complete it, then re-enter the level; pause, and opt to leave the stage. You can then go through to the upper levels of the castle via the locked door.<p />
To bypass the 50-star door, do a backwards long-jump towards the stairs leading to the door, and, when hitting the stairs, repeatedly tap A. If done right, you should shoot through the door into the next, upper area. Go through the door at the top of that area, which itself will require stars and, if you have less than required, will put you on an endless staircase. You can, however, do the same backwards long-jump up that staircase to reach the level entrance for the final level, Bowser in the Sky World, with you only having 16 stars.Contributed by: Anonymous

Ice Slide in Cool, Cool Mountain
When doing the ice slide if you stay on the slide and follow the coins (a certain patch of coins won't follow the slide and will instead point to a wall) you will go into a secret tunnel hidden in the wall where you can get 2 one-up mushrooms and get to the finish line quicker.

Infinite 1-up mushrooms in 6th level
While in the Hazy Maze Cave, get into the Hazy Maze itself. Kill eight of the moles in a row, you will get a 1-up. Make your way to the lone mole on the other side of the maze, kill him eight times, get a 1-up. Now go back to the first pair of moles, kill eight in a row and a THIRD 1-up mushroom will appear! Continue going between the moles for the desired amount of lives.

Missing Characters in Ending Sequence
It is possible to have certain characters gone in the final ending sequence of the game. In order to eliminate characters from the final ending sequence, you must complete a simple task. You must not unlock them in the game. If you do not unlock a character in the game, he will be missing from the final ending sequence. The entire sequence will go by and you will never see the character. Also, on the cake at the end, the locked character will be missing and the other characters will be in different positions.

Teleporter in Rainbow Ride
In level 15 Rainbow Ride, ride the carpet all the way up to the Floating Mansion. Walk out of it and stand in the grey area in between the Mansion Entance and the Wooden Platform. you will be teleported to the top of the Red Coin Maze or vice versa. Be careful, on top of the Red Coin Maze, there is a 1-Up Mushroom but you can also be blown off by the wind.

Lethal Lava Land warp
In Lethal Lava Land, at the beginning of the level, turn left and walk across the platform, jump across to the island in the lava. On a certain place on the island, if you just stand there, you will be transported underneath the giant eyeball near the center of the level. (do not try with luigi while invisible because you will keep bouncing on the lava and probably die, since you go through the platform)

Cool, Cool Mountain Transporter
In Cool, Cool Mountain, there's a transport from the 2 broken bridges, 1 near the starting point, and 1 near the big penguin outside(next to a sign and red coin). Walk to the edge of the broken bridge, stop for a second, and you will be teleported to the other bridge.

Cool Cool Mountain slide shortcut
This is for the Cool Cool Mountain slide inside the house. When you come up to the first tunnel, look for a line of 5 coins going into the wall. Follow the coins into the wall and you will take a secret path with 3 1-Ups in it. NOTE: You can't use this to get the star in the Penguin Race.

Have Toad wear your cap!
While Mario, Luigi, or Wario, lose a cap in any of the stages that you can lose a cap... and leave the level... While you have no cap, go to any other level, get any star and when you return to the castle, go back to the main hall and toad is there wearing your cap!!! He will say that he found it outside the castle front. This is also good in case you lost your cap somewhere but you don't know where you left it. Check it out, it's pretty neat.

Cannon
To access the cannon outside the castle, get 150 stars. There are three 1-ups, a ? Block, and Luigi's rabbit. If you have the Korean version of the game, there is a ! Block you can hit for infinite lives.

Different speeds in Tick Tock Clock
Jump in the clock on 3 and it will be slow. Jump in the clock on 6 and it will be medium speed. Jump in on 9, and it will be fast. Jump in on 12 and everything will be stopped.

Gain easy 99 Lives.
First go into Whomps Fortress as Mario and choose 2nd-7th star. Then, go to the teleport near between the wired fence and wall, but don't use it. While there break open the box with the Red Mushroom in it. Get the Red Mushroom you should become large, then use the teleport. After you re-teleport, jump over the small fence and jump on the ledge with the castle on it, and pull yourself up. Go to your left, and touch the thinner side of the board, it should fall and you still should be large. Now just keep on walking/touching it and your life should go up FAST.

Launch into the Sky (Bob-omb Battlefield)
Using the cannon near the start of the level, as far as to the left and as far down as you possibly can. When you launch Mario, he'll blast up way into the sky and begin falling. You can use this to quickly navigate portions of the level, as you can control Mario when falling. Note that you will lose half of your health from the fall, but you can circumvent this by ground-pounding just before landing.

Finish the game with only 50 stars as anyone
Ordinarily, you're supposed to have 80 stars to finish the game, but with this glitch, you can finish it with 50. Go into the room on the third floor which contains the levels "Tick Tock Clock" and "Rainbow Ride". Once you enter this room (which requires 50 stars to enter), run to your right, and climb onto the second step, not counting the floor. Angle your character so that they're about halfway between the corner and the edge (and have them facing the corner). When they're in this position, charge up a run, start running, slide kick, and hold right on the D-pad. Don't hold up when you're in the corner, or else you'll immediately die (another glitch itself). If all goes well, you'll slide into the corner, and get shot into the sky. From here, you can navigate your way to the top of the endless stairs while they are still endless, and enter "Bowser in the Sky". You will need to go around the stairs, because the effect of it is still there. Use the touch screen as a guideline. You can go fight in the final Bowser stage, and finish the game with only 50 stars. This glitch can also be used to access "Bowser in the Sky" as characters other than Mario.

1 Way Teleport in Tiny-Huge Island
Go to the area with the Pirrahna Plants and hit the switch. Run across the bricks and onto the island. Now get the coin and wait in that spot. You will be teleported to the pipe near the Pirrahna Plants again.

Infinite stars in multiplayer mode
In multiplayer mode, get the Wario hat and grab a player by standing next to them and try to punch them. Throw them, and grab the star that falls out of them, (If they have a star). Pick the enemy up again and ground pound with them in your hands. They will drop another star, even if they have none in their count. Rinse and repeat for as long as you like.

Infinite Coins in Cool, Cool Mountain
In Cool, Cool Mountain, go down into the cottage and go down the slide. Exit the cottage and kill the three goombas and grab their coins. After you get the coins, go to the top of the mountain again. The easiest way is with the warp near the brown bridge. Go back in the cottage, exit it, and the goombas will respawn with their coins. The coin counter only goes to 255 so that will be your high score. This can take some time.

Walk Underwater in Dire Dire Docks
When Bowser's Submarine is still in the docking area, head over to one of the back propellers. It is just slightly above the water. While underwater, jump up under it then quickly Ground Pound. Your character will fall fast through the water and land at the bottom. You can now walk underwater, so you can easily grab several of the Stars that lie there. This only works in US version 1 of the game. It can only be done while Bowser's Submarine is there.

Wario can walk on lava
Use this trick to get the star "Red-Hot Log Rolling" easily. Start as Wario. Instead of going forward, turn back. Rotate the camera, and you will see a small island with a red "?" block. Do a long-jump to get to the island, and take the flower in the block. Wario will be turned into metal, and can now walk on the Lava. (Be careful, the lava works like the quicksand in "Shifting Sands Land")

Get All Glowing Rabbits Easily With Yoshi
As soon as you start seeing glowing rabbits (they randomly appear in place of the character's other rabbits) go change to Yoshi. Yoshi always has three rabbits right at the end of the bridge of the castle. Go outside and check and see if any of them are shining. If not, walk back in and walk back out and check again. Eventually, one (or more) of them will be glowing. You can keep doing this until you get all eight rabbits.

Gain 60 lives in a few seconds.
On level 6, Hazy Maze Cave, go into the hazy maze as any character except yoshi (preferably wario since he can become metal) and navigate until you find a red brick block, inside will be a mushroom. Grab that mushroom and go around the corner.
There will be 2 moles, (i forgot their real names), keep running in circles over the holes in the ground that they pop out of and you will repeatedly kill them. After killing 10 you will start gaining lives, continue this until the mushroom runs out. You should have 40-60 extra lives now.Contributed by: Chris Jokeaccount

Extra Coins with Yoshi Trick
This trick allows you to make new coins appear using Yoshi. You can use the extra coins to get to one hundred coins faster, or to increase your coin record on a particular level. This trick is fairly simple to do. Start off by choosing Yoshi and entering any level. Go up to an enemy, and swallow it. When you swallow the enemy, press R to turn it into an egg. Then, find another enemy, preferably one that is near several other enemies. Aim so that your egg will not directly hit the enemy, but will ricochet off of the enemy. Shoot the egg. The egg will hit the enemy and then bounce of. Since the game thinks that the egg exploded, it will place the enemy coins at the place where the egg hit the enemy. It will also give you the coins for the enemy if you defeated it. Since the egg was not destroyed, however, it will continue to go and hit another enemy. When it hits the other enemy you will receive coins for defeating the enemy, and you will receive the enemy coins from the egg again! If the egg bounces off several enemies before it breaks, you will receive coins multiple times for the enemy that was in the egg. The more times the egg bounces off enemies, the more coins you get. This is especially useful when you swallow enemies that give you blue coins, since you can get many blue coins by using this trick. This trick is difficult to pull off on regular enemies, but it is worth it. This trick is easiest to use if you shoot the egg at a Bob-omb since they are small and usually do not break the egg.

Wet-Dry World Warp
For this warp, the water level needs to be as low as it can get. Walk around the base of the level until you find the brick structure that is made of several steps. Stand at the base of the structure, in the corner between the highest and lowest steps. The game will warp you to the top of the structure that holds the entrance to the cannon. You can also warp from the cannon to the other structure.

Snowman’s Land Warp
For this warp, head over to fenced in area where three Goombas are huddled around a campfire. Stay outside of the fenced in area, and stand under the tree closest to the fence. Your character will warp to another tree, right next to the freezing pond. You can also warp from the tree in the freezing pond to the tree next to the campfire.

Destroy Tox Boxes
You can destroy those annoying Tox Boxes in Shifting Sand Land by Being/Turning into Wario, then wait for the tox box to come to you and right when you get in the part that is hollow, punch in any direction and you will send it flying and you will have a clear walkway.

Tall, Tall Mountain Warp
In Tall, Tall, Mountain, there is a warp that makes it easy to get to the cannon. In the area with all of the mushrooms, you will see two tiny mushrooms that are next to each other. Jump to the second tiny mushroom, and you will warp to a hidden area below the mountain. From there you can head to the cannon. You can also warp from the hidden area to the mushroom if you decide not to use the cannon.
