Avoid Forced Battle Scenes
To avoid forced battles (battles by stepping on a certain tile on the field) simply wait in front of it until monsters appear and when one steps on the tile, move onto the tile and you'll go into a battle scene from the monster, not the tile. Most monster battle scenes are much easier than the tile's. Extremely useful when going to the Great Palace.

New Game Plus
If you finish the game once, you will be able to press Start to return to the title screen.
If you then return to the save selection screen, you will see that a little triangle appeared next to your save file. Select this file and you will begin a new quest.
Your levels (Attack, Magic, Life) will be the same and you will have learned every spell and thrusts you had the first time. The only things that you won't have are the Heart and Magic containers and the special objects (hidden in the palace, hammer and magical key).Contributed by: Zachaboss85

Acceleration Glitch
Note that this glitch requires the use of a NES controller that allows Left and Right on the D-Pad to be pressed at the same time. By pressing Left and Right at the same time, there is a glitch in the game's programming which allows Link to move with much higher velocity than normal, so high such that he can often enter and go through walls. You can alter your speed and direction by changing your facing or tapping Left or Right on the D-Pad while the other is held.

Earn quick experience for new character
To quickly earn more experience for a new character, first have a character who is far along in the game but hasn't done all the palaces yet. Have this character beat a palace and go to the place to insert the gem.
When you insert the gem and the experience points start to total up, pause and do the Quick Save. Then, load your new character. All of the experience points which would've gone to the character you beat the palace with will now go to your new character.Contributed by: terrisus

No keys
If you come to a locked door and hove no key you can simply use the Fairy spell and fly right throuogh the keyhole. And sometimes if you have enough magic you can make it through the whole palace just using this trick.

Warp Hole
In some castles and action screens it is possible to jump higher than the stats at the top of the screen. If the spell Fairy is used when Link is above the stats and you try to move to a side, he will fall through a warp hole. In the action screens Link will simply reappear on the same action screen. While, in the castles, he will end up on top of or in another room, on top of the castle entrance, or in an elevator below the castles entrance and stuck. If he gets stuck below the castle, you will need to reset the game. Also, the spell Jump can help with this glitch.

Quicksave
In the GBA version, press the start button and then simultaneously press the select button and up on the D-pad to skip to a menu with the options to "continue" or "save." This is the same menu that appears when you run out of lives. Selecting "save" records your progress and returns you to the title screen. Please be aware that selecting "continue" restarts you with full lives from Zelda's castle. There is no way to cancel this menu once it is brought up.

Move through locked doors without keys.
If you need to get through a locked door in a palace but you don't have a key you can use the spell of Fairy and then fly through the gate using this glitch. Handy if you don't know where a key is or want to save time.

Use spells with less cost to your magic.
A handy glitch in this port lets you cast spells while saving magic. When you grab a magic refill jar if you quickly switch to your spell menu, select a spell and then use it while the meter is still being filled from the jar you just grabbed the spell will be cast and the meter will continue to fill, making up for the difference in magic that the spell just used. You have to be quick to get it to work right; I've gotten this to fill it all the way back up sometimes but it appears to be based on just how fast you get it done.

Bypass forced encounters
You can bypass a forced encounter if you enter the tile while it’s being occupied by a random battle monster. Instead of fighting through the forced encounter you will fight a random battle. After the battle, you can simply step off the tile and continue.

Stay alive after a fatal hit.
If you fall off the side of the screen when you get hit, you won't die, even if your HP is at 0. Stand very close to the edge of the screen, and attack from there. You can use this to level up without the risk of losing your EXP to a gameover. Especially at screens with jumping fish.

Sword Techniques.
There are two additional sword techniques that can be learned to help Link but they aren't really necessary to beat the game.

Spells
There is a spell hidden in each town. Their magic cost depends on your Magic level. Shield reduces damage by 50%; Jump doubles your jump; Life restores 3 hearts; Fairy allows you to fly and pass through keyholds; Fire lets you shoot fireballs from your sword; Reflect lets you block fire and reflect magic waves; Spell turns all monsters into blobs and unlocks the Magic Key at the end of Kasuto; Thunder kills everything on the screen.
