Love it, or hate it
The game gives you the possibility to play as the ``don`` in a mobster family, and is set, of course in the 1920-30` where, prostitution and moonshine are highly illegal, and you must use your cunning wits and brute force, to best the other mafioso familys, aswell as the cops and FBI.
The game is played in two parts
First of all it is the management, which happens on a weekly basis. This is where you gives your mobsters the main orders for the coming week. The orders you can give are diverse and plentiful, as they reach from merely collecting ``protection`` money from your territory, to bribing the law, and going to war. You must also recruit new wiseguys to your family, set them into different squads, and outfit them with guns and cars. (The orders you give will vary as you progress in the game, and just exploring the diverse orders and possibility's of the game seems to be(?!) a major part of the game itself) When you have completed your weekly orders, you will go in to a real time overview over the city. This is where the game gets really special, because now all you do is actually just watch the game play itself.... its true, and alot of times you will just push the fast forward button until you reach the end of the week. But don`t get me wrong, this is an option (you will use allot), but it is not necessarily how you have to do it, because you can also give in-game orders. This can be very annoying, as your mobsters are just flying around like ants, minding their own business, and you don`t have any freedom of movement, but it is ment to be played this way - All the action will happen in this part of the game, as your mobsters will suddenly find themselves in the middle of shot out between the other familys and the cops, and you can choose to participate, and send more guys into the action. You can watch as your guys are robbing banks, torching buildings, and exploring to find the headquarters of the other familys
The main objective in the game is to either, kill the other familys, or be elected mayor of the city, you can do it legally, or blast down every one who oppose your ways. The final possibility to win, is the lenghty one, and happens when the other bosses are broke
One of the major aspects of this game is to explore the diversity of the orders and options on how to run your growing empire. This game is kinda hard, and if you don`t give the game a proper chance, you will not enjoy this game, i strongly suggest reading the manual first, so the game will seem just alittle less confusing
PS, i based my sound score solely on the ingame sounds, as i can`t remember the music, but what i remember is that you will not rejoice of the quality of it, (the music is not an important part of this game) - but enough said, this is a game you will not regret playing, if the description above will not set you off in the negative way
