This is another under the radar gem which I think is a soild shump if not one of the best but at least unique. There really isn't a lot of shumps like this except for the game Future Cop L.A.P.D. for the PS One which is another under the radar gem. Not a lot to say, there really isn't much of a plot just that your part of some elete mecha force and you have to save your world from an evil empire. That's it in a nutshell and that's fine by me we're all really in this for the action which this has plenty of.
I really like the setting which is a steampunk setting which I think is very cool and something I don't see much in shumps except in the shump Steel Empire another underrated shump. I really like the graphical and level designs just the amount of detail of the lands will eat your eyes whole, it really shows how much effort they wanted to create not just mere levels but a fascinating world of it's own.
I even like the design of the mecha you use, it's sort designed and moves like ED 209 in the movie Robocop, which is cool because it feels right. The control for it is soild and easy to maneuver, it's basically a double joystick control where you control movement with one and you shoot your gattling gun with the other, the other button you use to activated other weapons. You are equipped with a gattling gun, missles, grenades, and a nuke which you will want for emergency use only in case things get too hot to handle. And of course you have the RPG element where you can upgrade you weapons and gear the more you collect and further you go.
The gameplay is very good, all of the enimies mainly vehicles and machines are unique, and the boss battles are a little chalanging and fun. But what makes this game work is that you really have to utilize manuiverablity and strategic positioning, due to where you enimies are placed you really have to pick your movements carefully in order to have minimum to no damage, let alone nail the suckers, it's a bit remonicent of the Strike series on the Genesis system, only here this is a mecha not a chopper. Let alone it's just plan fun blowing the hell out of things with a giant robot to control.
Overall, it's a soild shump, if your a fan of the shump subgenere and your looking for something different then give this game a shot. The gears for this game mesh.
