The sequel to one of the most successful games ever released on the Xbox 360.

Once again we are treated to the wonderful cover system, the stunning alien design and the artistic direction of the environments. This time around the scale is much bigger and the combat situations are frequently more challenging.

Gears of War 2's storyline has been fleshed out considerably and for most of the game there us more immersion with the characters. The new characters Tai, Anthony and Dizzy fit perfectly into the group and don't withdraw attention from Dom and Marcus. These new characters deserve mention as they are all meaningful roles in the battles with the locust hordes and Epic deserves credit for the story boarding.

The main focus of Gears of War 2's story is with Dom and his search for Maria, his wife. Marcus Felix is still the main character. The fact that Epic have combined a fast paced, hard hitting action game and still managed to wangle a deep underlying story into the sequel is some achievement.

The battles in this game are massive and enemies from Gears of War 1, who made some small appearances are now involved. Brumaks and Corpsers litter the battlefield and make the battles more intense.

With regards to the graphics, they are impressive being based on the Unreal 3 Engine, which has been tweaked. There are also some environments which are destructible which work very well, almost anything in the game can be deformed, marked or damage in some way. Any creature you kill will result in some form of...well, chunks of them being dismembered or obliterated.

Steve Jablonsky (Transformers) is the man behind the music and he has done an excellent job, it fits perfectly with the setting and is very mood enhancing.

This game is set to be one of the most biggest sellers for 2008, I think Gears of War to is the equivalent to Play Station 3's Resistance 2. This game is stunning and is only slightly marred by some minor lag issues and texture popin.

Very addictive, enjoyable with friends or on your own.

A fantastic score. Great voice acting.

Xbox Live will be very busy, if you like multiplayer, look no further.
