Gears of War 3 didn't raise the bar, it set a new one.

In all honesty I'm not a Gears fan. 1 and 2 were both great games and offered great value but I felt it was just missing something. Gears fixed that and added more than an I expected. First off the visuals set a benchmark for this console generation. At the start of Act V scene 3 I just stood at the edge of the cliff staring at the ocean, the sunlight, the gorgeous fire in the back, and the lush tropical plants in amazement. The details on the characters too are some of the best too. You can see the emotions in the characters and see that they've been through a tough war. The animations in the way the characters move is smooth and well executed. Sound quality is great as usual. The voice acting is some of the best in any game. Not only did the voice actors do a great job but you can get a sense about who the person is. The music builds up perfectly and adds emotion to the game. Controls were tight and you get a different feeling for each and every weapon. Movement was smooth and everything responded as you'd want it too. Gameplay was top notch. The variety of enemies and the introduction of the Lambent add a different style of gameplay. And the NPC's work good, maybe too good. You can sit back back and let them clear out the room for you. Multi-player is great as usual and the added beast mode adds a new touch to the game.

All in all Gears 3 is a very complete game and one that is definitely worth its money. The game went out with a huge bang and showed that the developers put a lot into this game. After this game I am definitely now a Gears fan.
