it's kind of late, but here it is.
just got my new pc, good enough to play all the games few months back. Still blazing thru all the 2007 hits till now. Top the list i had finished, first is gears of war.
To my delight, GOW was available on PC, it was the very first game i wanted to play since it was such a hit on 360. Personally i'm a PS fan and too used to it's controller, therefore 360 is not on my list.
Story
i really like the nonchalant character of Marcus, couldn't be bothered and just do it attitude. Throughout the entire game, his conversations with his teammates are really consistent. Bringing out a very realistic character. With one objective to get the H*** of the place proved to be not an easy task.
Graphics
It's very good on high settings on PC but my rig just can't handle it, so i was forced to play on a mid settings. Very nicely theme and environment. everyone place looks different but feels the same because of the dark lighting setting which is good and bad. after tuning my lcd tv to a good level of black the dark areas level just stood out beautifully. towards the end, the details just start to wear off and nothing really got my special attention which is kind of disappointing.
Game-play.
i used a logitec cordless rumble pad to play which is my prefered design like PS, everything just worked seamlessly after applying a 360 emulator. The vibration sensibility was great and satisfying when sawing through the locusts. Many different scenarios and level design keep things fresh and exciting but the same disappointing last few levels and ending just doesn't make this a astounding game as many pple claimed. esp the last boss was so "BUGGED" as long as he does not come close enough to you, you can lay waste your ammo on him and finish him off within 5mins or less. Just after a few tries, he just got stuck half way standing there for me to shoot at will.
Disappointing ending but still solid game, pioneering the cover and shoot era.
