Gears of War deserves its praises as one of the best action shooter.

There are more than 3500 player reviews out there so what more should I say? I bought the Gears of War included Xbox 360 bundle and I was pleased I got this game along with the console. The graphics. When you talk about Gears of War, this is the first thing that comes in your head. I'd say the graphics in Gears of War are more than beautiful. The character models are great , the lights create real-time shadows on the floor and you cannot believe the ruins are so detailed. I don't remember seeing any repeated environmental settings. The sound is solid. It is what you can expect from an action game. The gameplay is awesome. The blood really splashes out of the enemy when you hit them so the guns are very handy and satisfying. As the official Gamespot review said already, one type of the Machinegun is equipped with a chainsaw. The chainsaw was next to useless in Doom 3 but it is different in Gears of War. Press and hold the B button to activate the chainsaw and it will cut into the closet enemy. When the B button is released, the chainsaw is QUIET-DOWN. Absolutely a fun weapon, and you'll like to carry that gun around. Deaths can be very sudden in later chapters following the introduction of some brutal foes but may God bless the producers they add plenty of auto-saves. As a result, you can pay back to the beasts that killed you rather than worrying about re-playing a huge length of the missions. You'd know what I mean if you ever played Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter PC. The last boss battle was a near-impossible objective. To tell you the truth, I spent three hours trying to dispatch the boss with little success. (spoilers) I could not believe that I finally defeated that boss with three precise grenade throws and said to myself, "System failure? How could he go down?". Gamespot offered a video walkthrough that helped me a lot. If it weren't for that, I would have wasted all the grenades early-on. Gears of War play perfectly smooth throughout the whole campaign and I shall credit the powerful hardware of the Xbox 360. If you are getting the PC Gears of War, you'll need a GeForce 8800 plus Core 2 Duo processors to enjoy the fluency of the 360 version. Many critics said Gears of War re-defined the visual standard. I love this game but I am afraid I cannot say the same. Gears of War is set in a world different to ours and the armour that the protogonist was wearing alone was something I can never call "realistic". The emotions of the characters are very rich but everyone can tell they are fake faces in video-games. So are the structures in the game. Don't get me wrong, I like Gears of War to look as it is now. Sometimes you better accept what video games basically are. If they come too close to reality, you should be very afraid. For example, you may have nightmares after a massacre in-game. Gears of War is a fun-to-play action-packed shooter. You won't be sorry to own it.
