One of the best looking game to come out this generation.
Graphic for Gears of War is simply outstanding. Never have I seen a better looking game than Gears of War. Graphic are crisp and highly detailed. The character models and bosses are very well design. Each level are just gorgeous, you can really tell that Cliffy and his team took their time on the graphic for Gears. There are some problem during the cutscene. The framerate suddenly drop during cutscene but not gameplay - very strange. Never the less, Gears of War have set the standard so high for graphic that it will be a while before another games top it.
Sound in Gears of War are so realistic that you feel like you are virtually there. Gears contain some of the best soundtrack in any video games. Unlike many games where the sound are repetitive, Gears sounds doesn't annoyed you that much. From gunshot chainsaw to footstep everything sound very authentic. Oh yeah, did I mention how awesome the soundtracks are for Gears of War.
The gameplay for Gears of War is one of it best feature. It not those kind of games where you just go around and start killing everything in sight. Gears of War instead offered an cover system where you take cover while waiting for the right moment to take out your enemies. The animation are very well done in most part. You can also use your gun as a melee weapon. There is a chainsaw on the end of the machine guns which act as a bayonet. So if you happen to sneak up on an enemies, you can split them open. Multiplayer is also a nice feature for Gears. Warzone act as your typical team battle where you have to take out your opposition. There are other mode such as assassination where you take out the captain, and Execution where all the close combat are involved. In story mode you can play cooperative with a friend. There is also on-line play for this game, which just add more replay to the game. Gears of War have raise the standard for all games. It combination of graphic, sound, and gameplay easily makes it one of the top game for any console. If you are wooried about getting this game then give it a rental. This game shouldn't be missed by any Xbox 360 owners.
