Despite some mechanical flaws, it's still well worth your time.

User Rating: 9 | Gears of War X360
Gears of War is one of the best tactical squad-based shooters out right now. Its campaign may be short, but its replay value is incredibly high and gets boring only after a very long time. The difficulty levels could have been altered but it doesn't harm the actual gameplay. The weapons are what you would expect: a bazooka, some pistols, grenades, machine guns, and the classic shotgun. However, The Lancer is original because...well it has a chainsaw on it. Although it is EXTREMELY impractical, its really fun to use. The Torque Bow is also original....exploding crossbow, I can't say I have seen it before. The Multiplayer is the best and worst aspect of this game. It is something that most people give up on after a day because they get butchered their first matches. People need to understand that this is a game that you have to play in order to get good at, and you WILL get better guaranteed, its not hard. Once you've gotten the hang of it and have been playing it for as long as I have, you can easily pick out the several mechanical flaws in the MP gameplay. First off, the game is laid out so that the bullets you fire come out of your shoulder and not the actual tip of your gun...so yes, if you put someone's head right behind your firing arm, you can score a headshot. Why is it like this? I don't know, but it's not something that occurs too often, but it gets noticeable after all the BS kills you will score and the ones that others will score on you. There are several actual broken gameplay controls, such as the two-piece, which easily destroys first-timers, active downing with the sniper is also another noobie killer, and the double melee, which takes more skill to pull off and stay alive, but still dreaded amongst people who wish to play normally. If you have the patience, give it a try, but do expect to send a controller flying across the room at least once when attempting Multiplayer.
