Great frickin' game! What else can you say. It has great gameplay and fatastic graphics. Deadly combination!
The one player campaign is nothing to forget about. Through being a little on the short side, you are constantly entrawed with what is going on. The story might not be very fresh, still it is very satisfying. For a video game story, you can't complain. Some of the levels are too cool.
Online is frickin' awesome! Looking at only eight players maximum per match might seem like too litte, but the way the came is constructed as with the levels, it feels just right. Games are intense and move quickly. There is no deathmatch but just a few modes of team battle and my god do you rely on your comrades. Gears is definitely a team game and the multiplayer definitely reflects that.
So now that knowing Gears is great does it have any drawbacks? Definitely. There is no such thing as a perfect game and main drawback I have for the game is the over use of the A button in the game. It is the action button and at times it just seems as if you don't know what will happen when you push the button. It's used to run, mash for cover, get out of cover, just to the side. move forward into cover and at times it is just too hard to know what action your character is going to take when the action gets tough. Especially in online modes I get a little pissed at the control mechanics. Things could get tough and you could be face to face with a opponent and have to move quick out of the area and would use the A button for a command only to end up doing something you didn't want to do such as wanting to jump to the left, only to find you mashed into cover instead thus possibly finding yourself dead. It would of been great if the A button wasn't used for so much stuff. This is the only real major complaint I have. With that little drawback of the A button use Gears is still an amazing game and anyone with the 360 should own it.
