Gears of War is heart pumping third person shooter with stunning graphics, addictive gameplay and is just plain fun!

Gears of War is hard to describe with its gore, near perfect gameplay and not to mention possibly the best multiplayer on the xbox 360 at the time of release is an experience that any 360 owner should take a look at. Although the game has its faults inluding the confusing storyline and a few little things like the overuse of the 'A' button (this will irritate you) still equates to a great game.

The gameplay of Gears of War is very fluid with the well done cover system, roadie runs, rolls ect. although can be a bit 'iffie' as stated before as this system uses the 'A' button for the roadie run, rolls and attatching to cover. This may make you attatch to cover when running away from an enemy getting you stuck, awaiting your inevitable death.
Overall gameplay: 9.5/10

The graphics in gears are astonishing. The moment you arttatch your 360 to an HD television is when you realise what this system is capable of. The lighting, gore, character models, environments and guns all look fantastic. There are a few technical hitches though with textures occasionally taking a long time to load but that is understandable.

The story of gears is at times very confusing. The game starts off with Marcus Fenix being broken out by his best friend Dom Santiago and you immediately go out fight the locust. The story unravells and towards the end I just lost what was happening as it was all hapenning very quickly.Although it was a decent reason to be fighting an alien horde.

The sound in Gears is top qualtity. The guns sound suitably powerful, the voice acting is fairly good and there are just little touches that add to the experience. For example whenever you finish off a horde of locust in the area an awesome sound effect plays, which I am sure anybody who played gears and enjoyed it will recognise.
Overall Sound: 9.5/10

Multiplayer is really what brings most people to play Gears of War. It is highly addicitive. Although it is preodomiantly made up of shotgun lovers (especially since gears 2 has come out) which may irritate you, if you find good people to play with it is extremely fun.
Overall Multiplayer: 9.0/10

Overall Gears of War is a superb package and should not be overlooked. At it's current prices if you had the slightest interest in the game it would be worth purchasing it.
