Not for Everyone. Cover System: You'll either Love it, or Hate it.

I was excited to try this game but I wanted a Demo from XBox Live 1st.
Well, I got lucky and my Brother in Law had a Copy and said he did not care for it, so he let me borrow it. I am thankful I did not Purchase this, it is also why I Classified this as Rent it First, because you will either Love it or Hate it.
OK... I didn't hate it, but in my opinion it is only OK.

The Cover System to me is annoying. If I am this big bad dude, then why am I such a wimp. I cannot Play a game hiding behind Rock after Rock. Some say this is what is great about the game, they call it a thinking mans shooter. Well, I think all day at work, the last thing I want to do is Think in my game. There wasn't really that much thinking really, but if it makes other people feel smart by calling it a thinking man game the go for it.
The Cover system is a little flawed as well as sometimes it sticks you to a wall you did not intend to cover against.

In Act 2 there was one level where my dude got a call on the Radio, as I was talking on the Radio my AI Buddy Dom Died and was Instantly Reborn more than 10 stinking times. I turned around to watch the whole event.
What he was killed by is annoying as well. These stupid bird ghost things come swooping down if it is dark where you are standing, so you have to make sure to shoot the Propane tanks, well I shot everyone in site, why did I die again without warning!!! Cool, I get to start the Level over.

Next thing that bugged me was the weapon pick up is the X Button. In Halo you have to Hold to Switch Weapons, In gears it is instantaneous. Well I switched away from my Lancer (The one with the Chainsaw) and it was not on the Ground after I switched and It took a LONG Time before I found another Lancer.

The Chainsaw is very Cool and some of the Weapons are pretty good, but there could be more weapons in my opinion.

I found the Levels to be a little small in scope. I was shocked that the Cities in the Background were still Backgrounds and not real-time Renderings. It feels like a Hallway Crawler much like Doom3 Was.

The Multiplayer has Limited Modes, and once you die you have to wait for the Level to End, This would have been nice as an option but not as the Only way to fly.

While the Graphics a pretty nice, I found the Characters to look a little Cartoony in some respects.
The Campaign is also pretty short, and the Story is just O.K.

I think this is why there is no Demo available and why all the Game Stores did not have this game running in the 360 Kiosk. Because many people bought this due to the Hype. As you can see from the Reviews many people think this game is a masterpiece, but if you are like me you will not like it.
