Looks great, plays great – is great.

User Rating: 9 | Gears of War X360
What can one say about Gears of War? There is lot to say, but I'll keep this short and to the point. Graphically, the game looks absolutely amazing and one of the pinnacle games for the 360. This also applies to sound both in weaponry and environmental effects. The game is a third person shooter that adds "tactical" movements such as duck and cover. Basically, as the video review says here at GameSpot, you'll spend a lot of time looking for something solid. So, the game certainly isn't run and gun. However, what is not mentioned are the small details that make this game surpass many others. For example, when your player runs for cover (or runs in general), the screen shakes like something you see on the evening news when you watch Iraq combat and reporters covering it; or something you see on the program "COPS" when you see the cameraman running behind the cop; a very nice feature. Another would be loading your weapons. When you reload your weapon if you make a mistake, then the gun will actually jam on you; this is an interesting and fun feature especially when enemies are approaching. The game is overtly bloody; it certainly feels like a horror game with being both dark and suspenseful. Add that with great graphics, and you got a great game. Thus, there is very little to say that is bad about the game; I on the other hand just wanted to add two points to this game that I think makes it stands above the rest.

Drawbacks: I would say, and many probably wouldn't agree with me, is the life meter. You get hit a couple of times, and you know you're injured; well, just run away and look for cover until the life meter is up to snuff; then you go on the attack again. I actually think this is a drawback, but even waiting for cover won't guarantee you'll live; the AI is good, and you'll find yourself dying.
