Gears of War was the first game I ever played on a 360, and since that time almost a year ago, I havnt been able to put it down since. The single player mode, although it is good, it really does lack a sense of continuity between certain areas and levels (this has since been corrected on the PC port of this game). The story line for the game is, when compared to some games, rather short and succinct, but this leads you to have more time to play the online side of GOW.

The online gameplay in GOW is, to be honest, slightly repetitive, but the developers got something right because you always just want to go back in with th usual line of "Just one more game!". Warzone and Execution are my personal favourite modes, following the standard team deathmatch archetype. Although eac round can be very similar in tactics and teamplay each round, you never find yourself getting bored. Each game develops unusual tactics that have to used off the cuff, and this makes gameplay both exciting and enjoyable. Assassination mode takes a slightly Rainbow 6 : Vegas theme, protecting the leader and trying to kill the oppositions leader. Although this can be fun, it is not always as enjoyable as a deathmatch in games such as GOW. Annex and King of the Hill modes are the two modes that I play least of, as I play a lot o starwars : battlegrounds for the point capture modes, and king of the hill is just not my thing.

Overall Gears of War is a fantastic game in single player which is taken even further by the multiplayer which will have you hooked for hours, as it has me.
