Shooters are Back

I hated all Halo games. Yes they were neat. They had neat weapons and driving cars but come on. How much can you have fun running around just shoot shoot shoot. Its like - lets go down this linear hall and shoot the same things over and over again. Hoopy!! Not Gears of War. This game made shooters fun again and here is why. First and foremost. Single Player Cooperative game play. It brought this element of game play back. That truly makes the game for me. I got so sick to my stomach of death-match and being in Xbox live lobbies - hearing all the chattering and feeling like I was in homeroom again. Second of course is the next gen graphics. They were stellar in this game. Third was the maneuvering around objects for cover. That added a strategic dimension. Fourth was the sniping. It had a great sniper rifle with a zoom scope that allowed you to take out your opponents in one shot even if you hit them other than in the head. And finally, the Beserker. Those things were scary. They would get after me and my colon would shrink. This game should get shooter of the year. Great graphics, story, gameplay and sound. Have fun.
