Not as great as everyone makes it out to be. Gamespot reviewers are forgiving of glaring errors because of great graphic

Sure, the graphics are some of the best we've seen so far, but everything else is pretty lame. The controls are very unresponsive, trying to run anywhere ends up with your character automatically attaching to the nearest wall or car and hiding behind it when you didn't want them to do that. Being able to duck and cover behind pretty much every object in the game sounds nice, but in reality, you have no choice but to do so. It is extremely easy to get killed, and staying out in the open will achieve that surprisingly fast. A game where you're constantly hiding doesn't seem that exciting, and it isn't. Any time you encounter an enemy out in the open, you must dodge them, but the button that dodges is the same button that ducks and covers, so if you're in a closed space with lots of objects, you can count on finding yourself attached to the object with the camera view pointing away from the enemy. You can also count on the enemy taking advantage of this major glitch in the game and shooting at you in this time of vulnerability. The storyline of the game is nonexistant, and when playing the story mode, I would have no idea what was going on. At one point, I was underground, and had no idea what I was doing there, and I had paid attention to the cutscenes. Next thing I know, I was on a train for some reason. It's a good thing the gameplay was straightforward - in that all I really had to do was go forward - or any player would have gotten lost without knowing what to do next. The game doesn't really explain it.

The story mode is extremely short as well, and wasn't very fun. The multiplayer isn't any better. If you die, you don't respawn until the match is over, which makes teamwork much more difficult and the game much more frustrating if you're just learning multiplayer.

The graphics and sound were very good, but that's it. A good game is not made on graphics and sound, but gameplay. A lot of people seem to have forgotten that, and those people have been hyping up this game. If you want a pretty game to look at, choose this game. I'd prefer Lost Planet - the graphics are about the same, but the gameplay is phenomenal and multiplayer is much more fun. I'd even prefer Castlevania from the PS1 over this game. Graphics don't mean anything when playing a good game.
