Taking a look back on this classic, I'm reviewing the game before the third Gears game comes out. read my review.

I have owned this classic since it came out but had not reviewed it yet, so that being said this is a game where you'll immediately notice the graphics which are top notch for it's time. Every locust you blast away and every headshot you get you'll appreciate the visuals. The campaign revolves around Marcus Fenix, kinda of a jerk but you grow to love him, as it progresses to the war between the locust and humans. The atmosphere is something you wouldnt expect, but you notice it. The blustery storm outside the factory level to bringing the fight on the train it's something that has to be experienced. The gameplay introduces the cover system where you'll find yourself sliding into cover and returning fire (you'll find this usefull playing insane mode), the multiplayer actually has a steep learning curve but you'll feel very accomplished when you become good at it. I actually prefered this to GOW2 in terms of multiplayer because to be honest I felt you had to have skills in GOW1. All in all a very innovative game and no doubt is very cheap to pick up for an amazing package.
