An all out blast!!

I personally didn't buy a 360 to play halo 3 and i'm not gonna start now, sure i liked the 1st halo on the xbox, but at the time i bought mine it was the only 1/2 decent game i could buy so....i did, then played halo 2 and after playing, became deeply disappointed in halo, so i've not gone back to play halo 3.
SO what shooters (other than halo) could i get on the 360, luckily,i started out with PDZ, which also was pretty good, then after hearing about gears of war, i thought ok, made by the people who made the unreal series games, both unreal and unreal tournament.
but would they screw it up when making a console game....actually....NO!! (by the way, anyone who says you should only buy a 360 for halo should be laughed at)
at 1st i thought gears seemed a bit metallic to look at, but after going back to it after a year (i've been busy with education ect)
i quickly changed my mind.
Until recently i'd gotten more into slower paced games like animal crossing: wild world, Eternal sonata and many Live Arcade games, and when i returned to Gears, it felt quite refreshing to play again.

Gameplay:
It's pretty much mission based where you have to clear enemy fortifications to progress, as you would with most shooters. the controls are setup quite well and suit the game well, although if like me you're used to playing 1st person games with a mouse and keyboard it can feel just a little disorientating especially when you're trying to aim without using some kind of auto aim feature

Visuals:
Not to sound like a fanatic, but i personally prefer Nvidia rendered visuals to AMD rendered visuals and AMD never seemed as pretty to look at as Nvidia, that said...Gears (Regardless of the 360 using an ATI/AMD GPU) actually looks pretty good, i was a little skeptical about the visuals but you just have to be just slightly ignorant to the flaws, which over all just boils down to looking just a tad metallicy looking.
Since the last time i've played gears, i've learned all games have their graphical flaws regardless of how polished they are, and i'm past caring about visuals, but none the less, they really do look really good, everything is where it should be and BLOOD flies EVERYWHERE when you Let one of the locusts have it with your chainsaw gun.

Sound: Beefy and atmospheric and you can hear where everything is coming from in terms of environmental audio, and the sound track i think is perfect for the game when transitioning between battle and quiet areas, something the unreal team have been using since the 1st unreal game and got you in the mood for the scene you were going into!

I wasn't originally going to review this but just felt like i had to seeing as i've always been a bit of an EPIC games fan, Mostly PC though and this little gem of a game is no exception to what Epic are capable of!!
