Despite some clunky controls, dumb A.I, and short game length. Geist proves to be mildly interesting.

User Rating: 7.5 | Geist GC
As you know, GC exclusives are hard to come by. Especially GC FPS's. This is an FPS but mostly focuses on Adventure.

Geist is GC FPS that puts in the role of John Raimi. You're on a mission to go to Volks Corporation to retrieve some DNA. Once your mission is complete you head to the evacuation point. But something strange posses your ally and shoots you and your partner Bryson. But you and aren't Bryson aren't dead. You learn that you are now a ghost and is guided by a ghost girl named Gigi. She teaches you the ways of being a ghost. Once your done learning the ropes. Your new task is to find Bryson, get your body back, and escape from Volks.

You'll notice that the game can be quite linear as you only have one way to scare someone. Most of the time, you'll get confused. The game won't let you just possess someone as soon as you see him because that would make things too easy. So you're probably going to be rushing to find a guy with a weapon that you can possess.

Once you possess someone with a weapon, you'll notice that the shooting parts aren't all that special. One of the problems is the lack of good A.I. Your enemies choose the method of running at you and shooting at you without taking any means of elimination like flanking or holding down suppresive fire to get you cornered. But it's not really trying to be a true FPS. It's more of an adventure, meaning people who enjoy games like Half-Life and Metroid Prime will like this game. But people who like games like Counterstrike or Halo will probably be dissappointed.

You'll also that the controls seriously need reworking. The L button is used for special moves your character has. (and it's used for jumping in multiplayer but I'll explain that later) Z button is used for an alternative attack that your character has. The only face buttons that's really used most of the time is the A, B, and Y button. The X button is completely useless. Hell, I'd like to hit some body with my rifle using the X button, or crouch using the X button, or maybe use the X button to jump.

The game is also quite short. People who are good at puzzles in videogames and shooting dynamics will breeze through this game easily.

But the Multiplayer proves to be quite fun, even without online play. You have Possession Deathmatch, Capture the Host, and Hunt. Which can be quite addictive. So if you think this game interests you. Just rent it. You may enjoy it. Just don't expect a cutting edge FPS expierience.
