Adventure veteran players will drown in nostalgia with a extremely well writen story in this neo-noir masterpiece.
Azriel, a police officer and an ex-assassin with a very dark past, is searching for a friend who has dissapeared. Delta-six, an enigmatic character who had his memory wiped resides on a building called Center 7, where he takes some training as a part of his rehabilitation. The story takes place at the city of Pittsburgh on the planet Barracus, where both stories of the characters eventually collide inside a network of intrigue and violence.
One aspect that will certainly not please most veteran adventure gamers is the fact that the puzzles aren't much challenging. In fact, most of them can be completed by most obvious ways. The few shooting scenes are also pretty simple, requiring some basic reflexes for the player to succeed.
The soundtrack, composed by Nathan-Allen Pinard, is excellent and grants immersion. The same can be told about the sound effects, like the rain and the footsteps. Strong voice acting helps mantaining the player focused on every dialogue - at least those from the main characters.
The game possesses the option of enabling the director's commentaries, represented by icons which provide informations about the areas - all spoken by Nuernberger himself. That's a incredible feature for an Indie game.
Although not perfect, Gemini Rue's strong storyline, retro graphics and amazing music and sound effects makes this title a must have for any point-and-click fans.
