The most fun I've had in ages
I hadn't played any Geometry wars prior to last night, but I came across the gamespot review and thought I'd download the trial on XBL
Well, I was hooked right away and immediately unlocked the full game. My goodness I've not had this much fun on a game in a long time, and I have all the big named 360 blockbusters
It's a simplistic concept executed to perfection. The graphics are perfect, the challenge is perfect, everything about the game is perfect, aside from not having online multiplayer, but I won't knock off marks for that, as I'm not really fussed about it
The gaming world was once a simple place. Back in the days of the NES we all enjoyed a game that was easy to understand, and in which we spent hours upon hours trying to achieve a high score to boast about to our friends, and where graphics were pretty much unimportant
Since then we have had games like Crysis which look photo-realistic, and RPG's which give us open worlds to explore like oblivion, or open ended action games where we have so many things to do, like GTA
But they take a lot of time and concentration and ultimately become boring. Simple arcade games like this, last forever, just look at pacman and tetris.
It's pure unadulterated fun for the masses. Kids, put down GTA and see what good old arcade gaming is all about, where getting a high score is more fun than beating that endgame boss.
Amazing game overall, I'm hooked.
