To many this is a long overdue entry into an addictive and engrossing series. I count myself among them.

User Rating: 10 | Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 X360
Geometry Wars 2 is everything you wanted it to be. Multiplayer, new modes of play, updated graphics which remain faithful to the original, challanging achievements, etc. From the moment you start playing Geometry Wars 2 will grab onto you and absolutely will not let go. If you spent anytime with the earlier entries in the series(Retro Evolved or even the original) the gameplay formula will be familiar to you. Even if you didn't play the others, you'll find the controls easy to pick up and difficult to master.

The new gameplay modes add a dimension to the repetitive sting-and-move formula that adds to replayability and depth. in Retro Evolved it was easy to get frustrated with the mounting difficulty level and simply quit, but with six different modes to choose from, becoming frusterated with on mode doesn't mean to have to stop all together in order to cool off. Can't get the Surf achievement in Waves? Spend some time in Pacifist or King, and relieve a little of that stress.

The achievements cover as wide a variety of feats as the gameplay modes themselves, and are all challenging, but not out of reach. Those who attempted or even pulled off the, "Survive One Million" achievement in Retro Evolved will appreciate this. That's not to say you won't want to pull your hair out in the process, but you'll probably be able to pick up most, if not all, of Retro Evolved 2's two hundred gamerpoints in one or two sittings.

For ten dollars, it doesn't get much better than Retro Evolved 2. Don't believe me? Try the demo and see for yourself. Just remember not to blink.
