A great sequel to the original game that will have you addicted. Great graphics and sound, great multi-player.
I didn't play the game much again until G2 came out on XBLA. Needless to say, it has been one of my most satisfying XBLA purchases to date. The game is an amazing update of the old retro shooters such as Galaga or Centipede (though I forget which game it is based off of). Retro Evolved 2 features incredibly fascinating updated graphics, simple yet insanely addictive gameplay, and a great original soundtrack and fitting sound effects.
The end result is a frenzy of colors and sounds that results in a very fun game and probably one of the trippiest on the 360. In fact this game "under the influence" of certain substances will blow your mind. The single player mode is very challenging and each time you play you find yourself striving to get a little farther than your last attempt, plus you can keep up with leaderboards during play to see how you rank with your friends or the top players in the country.
If you've got some friends to play with, or want to give single-player a break, there's a multiplayer option that lets you put up to 4 players on the screen at once in any of the games modes (6 in total, 5 are locked till you get them in single-player). The multi-player game is fun, crazy, and allows for competitive modes, co-operative modes, and even co-op where one player controls a single ship, while the other fires and team modes as well. The only gripe about multi-player is that it is not online-enabled and your scores in it don't affect single-player modes, or have any affect at all.
This is a great game you will love and your friends will probably love as well. Geometry Wars 2 is a great party game and one of the best games offered on Live! Arcade. Be sure to check it out or at least try the demo!
