Yet another bad anime Tie in.
Game play is basic. It's just like all of the other 3rd person shooters out there. the only thing i could think of thats kinda unique is Motoko's jumping abilities. She can jump off a wall to clime up creates and stuff and this ability of hers is used in a few frustrating jumping puzzles, here and there. But before i forget if you can posses enemies for a short time by taking over their "ghost" by hacking into there system by via a timing mini game. This requires you to press X when you see spinning disks on screen. later on in the game the disks will get faster and more difficult of course, so you would be better off killing off all the bad guys your self. You also get to play as Batou another fellow cyborg however; he's so bulky that all he's good for is brute force so of course you will be using him for mostly combat.
I got to give it to Bandai and Cavia inc. they got the character animation right and the look of anime is just right and to me thats all thats going for this title.
There is some replay value in this game, you can unlock 10 fans found in each level to unlock some special avatars and guns for multi player however: Halo this is not and thus all the new stuff doesn't, effect the game play much if at all.
In conclusion if your a fan like me you might have some fun and appreciate the story a bit but if you need some GITS: S.A.C. fix but if your looking for some groundbreaking 3rd person action game to play look elsewhere.
Thats way i give Ghost in the shell stand alone complex for the PS2 a
