Despite other reviewers’ opinions, I found Ghost Rider to be one of the most enjoyable titles available for the PSP. From the graphics to the gameplay this is not just a solid superhero game, but is just a good all around game. The graphics are some of the best on the PSP, and are some of the best ever offered on a portable system. The sound effects are solid, and the cut scenes are well voiced by actors from the film. One of the most ridiculous knocks against Ghost Rider is that it copies much of its gameplay from the Devil May Cry and God of War series. This is true, but I see it as a positive comparison. Both of these franchises are beloved by gamers, and neither are currently available on the PSP. Basically, any gamer who enjoyed the combat in either of these classic series will enjoy the gameplay in Ghost Rider. The controls are solid and easy to learn. Players use accomplishment points to upgrade Ghost Rider’s weapons and abilities, and the game offers a very well balanced combo system. The motorcycle levels put twisted metal to shame and are some of the most unique and rewarding driving levels I have played in any game. Lastly, the adjustable difficulty settings that can be changed on each level make the game accessible to all gamers. I accept that there have been many sub-par titles based on comic books and films. Ghost rider is not one of these, and anyone looking for some simple yet rewarding handheld fun would do well to pick up this title.
