The excitement wears off as the game becomes more repetitive the deeper you get. Rent it first!
Con:
I was somewhat dissapointed when I wasn't able to choose a character, and even more-so when I actually got to my 5th ghost..and then again on my 20th ghost...until I realized that almost evey fight is the same: you zap, sap and cap them. Its very simple. Some ghosts just require you to zap. The process wouldn't be a hassle if each ghost fight didn't take SO long. Fights just drag on and on. Cut-scenes seem very bland and the humor is pretty dry. There are some bugs where you will bring up your little EMP detector and think you've found something, when nothing's actually there or you can't access it. The soundtrack is original, but annoying since it plays a lot of the same tracks over and over.
Pro:
It was great to hear all the original ghost busters sounding just like you remember them from the movies. Speaking of original, the story is one of a kind, not a spin-off from another movie. Its even better feeling part of the team, as you are always with a partner or the squad taking down ghosts together. Its nice having an upgrade system and the detail on every ghost is amazing. Each one has his/her story that you can read about to get even deeper into the game.
All in all, its a decent game that any ghost buster fan will enjoy. You can tell a lot of effort was put into the game and you really live the dream of being a Ghost Buster. Unfortunatley, it felt like they took what an hour and a half movie had, and stretched it out into 8 hours. The gameplay is fun, but not for an extended time. If you arn't already a fan of the movie, the game isn't going to help you at all. The game doesn't break any new grounds, but it breathes some life into an old favorite from the past. Play this like you would a movie: just once. Buy it if you are a die-hard fan, but thats it.
