It may take some getting used to, but it's worth it.

User Rating: 8 | Ghostrunner PS5

Positives:

  • Gameplay is incredibly addicting.
  • Combat is fast-paced and exciting.
  • Traversal feels slick and awesome to control, and there's lots of creativity in how you approach levels.
  • Plenty of challenge here, but it feels satisfying when you get through it.
  • The added accessibility options do a nice job of making the game a touch more approachable without losing its overall challenge.
  • Visual design is absolutely superb.
  • Cyberpunk aesthetic is striking and memorable.
  • Campaign thankfully doesn't overstay its welcome, and there's tons of replay value here.

Negatives:

  • Definitely a fair amount of trial-and-error that can feel a bit frustrating to deal with.
  • Don't even think about trying this if you deal with motion sickness.
  • I feel like I ran into more bugs than I was expecting.

Consensus: I'll admit that when I first played "Ghostrunner," I dropped it because I found it too challenging. But when I heard they added some accessibility features, I thought I'd give it another chance. I'm glad I did because this is a great game. It's a very stylish first-person action game that reminds me of "Mirror's Edge" but with more of a cyberpunk aesthetic and a greater amount of challenge. Of course, that challenge can definitely get a fair bit too frustrating at points, but it doesn't stop "Ghostrunner" from being a very good game. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, and I don't think it's an easy game to recommend, but stick with it and I think you'll be rewarded. I sure was.
