This ain't Raiden, and this ain't Aero Fighters. It's something more.
Game Play ~ This game is mostly known for the high scores you can get in the game, which are said to go up to the billions...or even trillions? Yikes. But anyway, I can see why: This game goes vertically, and each time you destroy and enemy plane- which usually comes in a long line of other puny planes that you can finish off in seconds- these golden star-shaped things appear, and they even take the form of the previous plane that was in their place, resulting in massive flying amounts of stars coming at you. Ah yes, and may I tell you that each star is worth points? Yes, even on your tenth re-run of the game, you won't get even close to 75% of the stars. Replay value will mean A LOT to you.
Still, weaponry seems a bit super-sized, both on your side and on the enemy's side. The planes that are selectable have many shields, gadgets and whistles. Those include a special attack that reflects all of the enemy's shots back at them, a charge-it-up (but overheating) energy shield that also reflects and turns the damage into golden shield-like objects that are worth many points as well., and a secondary weapon, one of which sends beams from the side that spread out all around the screen. Then, of course, there is the primary beam that shoots out of the middle. Enemies, including big ones and especially bosses, shoot a ridiculous amount of projectiles that cover every inch of the screen, and even Game Spot said it was impossibly difficult. Of course, you could just use your special attack, and regardless of what it is, all of the projectiles will disappear. Or, you could release your energy shield, which will repel the first wave of fireballs and boulders and pigeon droppings, but not escape the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth waves. Finally, you could use the special attack used by Shutock (or Stuck) and send all of the shots back at the enemy for around 5-7 seconds. Trust me, it's that ridiculous.
Graphics ~The graphics are fine for an activity-filled arcade shoot-em'-up.
Sound ~ The music...well....it sets the mood for each scenario. What more could I say? Arcade games should be like this.
Overall, the projectiles themselves are questionable, but the maniacal game play is why we love it. Try it on an emulator, 'cause you won't find it at an arcade.
