Hella awesome but hella hard is what this Japanese shoot em up is.Being able to reflect enemy weapon fire is cool too.
You're probably thinking,''oh another generic shoot em up'' however,I want to make it clear Giga Wing has a gameplay feature that makes it different to all/most other games of this type, and that is it allows you to reflect enemy weapon fire and to do this you simply charge up the shoot button but after you use the reflector ability you'll need to wait a few seconds for it to recharge. It might make the game sound easy, but it's the complete opposite,Giga Wing is one of the most difficult shoot em ups I've played, and I've played many of them. The reflector is not a luxary,it becomes almost a necessity as enemy weapon-fire of various shapes and sizes will fill the screen, some come at you quickly and sure if you're a great player you can dodge them but unless you can somehow figure out the only possible routes to dodge enemy weapon fire and figure it out in a split second, you'll need to use the reflector.
What makes the gameplay fun is when you're trying to survive long enough so you can use the reflector again, often you'll be facing mammoth enemy war machines that are firing projectiles that cover much of the screen and with good timing and adapting to the pattern of enemy weapon fire you can dodge them but sometimes there's tiny little gaps between weapon fire and if you make a slight misjudgement in which direct you fly you'll find yourself in a situation where you cannot dodge the enemy weapon fire.
Nevertheless, the gameplay feels epic for arcade shoot em up standards, not just because of the gameplay features and giant enemy units, but also the presentation is quite nice, very anime-style and you'll see story/dialogue scenes and the enemy weapon fire can have pretty and bright colors.
I don't know what else to say about this game except it's fun,has a lovely presentation but is hard.
