1. What more can be said about Gladius than a sweet, deep strategy role-playing game. Depending on the difficulty level chosen, a player will be granted the control of Male (more difficult) or female (less difficult). Either way both stories meet at one point of the game. The storyline is easily forgotten due to its presentation - written in different shops - with some exceptions.
The game is about Gladiators as the title suggests. The game play goes as follows: people in your party enter different battle arenas and fight for different reasons: to gain more experience, to complete a quest, to elevate their rank to better championships (just to name a few). How the gladiators fight is interesting, strategic and unique. Characters move, attack, defend, etcetera according to a turn system. When it’s the players’ turn he/she decides what his/her team one character by one is going to. Gladiators attack depending on their class (heavy, medium, light, which also go into smaller categories – bandits, ogres, bears, amazons, barbarians, Cyclopes, skeletons and many more). Each turn a gladiator can attack someone in their range, move to another place, cast a spell etc. Each gladiator is different from the others – equipment, class, level, affinity (what god they worship – Light god, Dark god, Earth god, Water god, Fire god or Air god), etc. The attack is done by mashing buttons, tapping buttons or just plainly choosing the attack. Attack range from a light melee attack to a summoning of a skeleton or a level 4-affinity attack. Gladiators are very well designed with different skin pigment, clothing and upgrade capabilities up to level 30.
As you progress through the visually appealing game you pick up different classes. It is crucial to choose a variety of classes because having the same class characters will ruin your chances of success – heavy beats medium, medium beats light and light beats heavy. In the diverse arenas, the party you picked for the particular battle can be seen from a bird’s eye or even closer. Though the arenas are beautifully designed as well as the characters, tiny gray spots can be seen from time to time but since it’s so unnoticeable it doesn’t affect the game that much. The game is very long and should keep people entertained for a while. Because of the lengthy game duration, no replay value will be even thought of. The instant a person completes the game, they will feel, as if it was their second time.
