Really Good Game. A Great mix of Strategy and RPG Elements. Good for fans of either genre.
HIGH POINTS: The story is engrossing (until the very end), which, for me, is the centerpiece for a good RPG...or a Strategy game, for that matter. This game delivers solid characters that are likeable and interesting. Also, prejudice and social status are brought into play in this game and make for good story elements as well. Second, the gameplay is terrific. The strategy elements mixed with button-timed presses make for a game that requires smarts as well as a some amount of skill. I enjoyed the blend of resources that Gladius used here. Third, length. This game is LONG! If you start this game today, it will take you 50+ hours to complete...Not to metion the fact that the game includes TWO quests with TWO different main characters! This game has uber replay value!! Finally, the games graphics are pretty good, and the sound is above average. Sure, the music will start to get on your nerves after awhile, but any game of this length will have that effect on anyone!
LOW POINTS: Number of classes. Sure, there are a good amount of class types in this game, but not nearly enough, in my opinion. Also, your characters can't upgrade to better positions/ranks. Once you buy the services of a person, that is what they always will be...hmm. Second, I know this is nit-picky, but the spell effects are EXTREMELY LAME. I expect any RPG to have cool Spell effects, and this game does not deliever. Thirdly, the story gets really convuluted and dumb at the end of the game. I won't spoil it for any newcomers, but suffice it to say that you will DEFINITELY understand where I'm coming from after completing this game.
THE SCOOP: Overall, a VERY good game. If you like Strategy/RPG games and are looking for something new, DEFINITELY give this one a shot. If you like Gladiators, consider giving this a shot. If you like both, it wioudl be CRIMINAL if you didn't try this game!!! This game is definitely a niche game, but it is a great niche game to any who find its concept appealing.
