Brutal, Bloody, Savage...Everything Kratos here!

God of War, is, if not the best, one of the greatest Playstation 2 games for its time. Everything about it has a "masterpiece" aura, and my score is not demeaning the game overall, just one section of the game. But I'll get to that later. How about I put everything good first. The story is classic, with great mythological references and a excellent revenge plot to boot. The CGI cutscenes are fantastic, looking way beyond their time, and the in-game graphics are good as well. Controls aren't sticky or anything, and I like control scheme.The gameplay itself? It exceeded my expectations. Combat just feels right, with great combos and awesome godly powers (and the brutality, I absolutely love it!). I like all the weapons (3 to be exact, although you only really get to play with 2 of the 3) and the powers (all sweet). The puzzles are mind bending and make you think, which I love (more in the next game!) There's probably plenty of things I'm missing, but I have to get the negative as well. I only have one (and I have a couple of improvements too). I know some of you might disagree with me on this, but I have to say, it was quite (like, almost controller-breaking) frustrating sometimes. I don't know how to describe it it just...was. It was very rewarding at the end though so I'm not punishing it as hard as I would some other games. So there you have it! Now my improvements section for the next game...
1. More boss battles! Please!
2. More Weapons!
3. Clean up the minor bugs a little (there was a glitch near the middle of the game, and it made me die, and I was very angry)
4. Space the checkpoints out better (a little closer please)
There might be more but I can't think of any at the moment...so I'll close the book on this review with that. I hope God of War 2 can improve on these things so it will be the brutal action adventure game I've only dreamed of. I give God of war a great 8.5/10. God of War 2 review coming soon!
