Playing God of War recalls the best moments of the greatest action/adventure games from NES to present. This game has it all: Familiar but stylised characters, well balanced combat, exploration and puzzle elements, Killer soundtrack, appropriate atmosphere, solid graphics with notably great animation, and a long enough quest with a compelling story!...did i forget to mention breasts as well? Kratos is given about as much ass kicking power throughout the game as Alucard in Symphony of the night for ps1 which means he's got lots of options to crush his enemies. the developers have used techniques from modern adventure games like Prince of Persia, Rise of Kri, Onimusha series ect... to create an experience that is so much greater then the sum of it's parts that it doesn't seem to have noticable 'parts' at all..as Kratos progresses through the game the combat, exploration and puzle sequences flow smoothly into eachother and combined with almost no load times creates a seemless experience. The levels have a great unique look to them and playing through them yields some fun gameplay innovations like the button tapping minigames while in combat. The most memorable aspect of God of War are the epic boss fights which are so damned fun i rank them above the MGSolid series for best boss fights ever! if you like adventure games and/or Greek mythology you must play God of War!
