God of War takes you into the world of the mythological gods of old & immerses in the story of Kratos, the baddest SOB you'll see in a video game. I won't go into too much detail behind the story of Kratos, because I could be typing this all day, but the core revolves around Kratos making a deal with Ares, the god of war, to save him from certain death & in return do his bidding. That sets in motion a chain of events that will leave you shocked when the full extent of Kratos' story is told during the game. The game itself is beautifully made from a graphic standpoint, with wonderfully constructed settings that draw you further into the game & very detailed enemies that come at you with an aray of capabilities & weapons. The gameplay is fast & furious at times with your foes surrounding you from all different directions, but at the same time has some wonderful puzzle solving sections as well as required platforming that challenges you more than to just button mashing. Speaking of button mashing, even the fighting action isn't necessarily about how fast you can tap the "X" button, but how you can press the buttons in specific sequences in order to complete dazzling combinations & fantasticly gruesome finishing moves. All in all the game has the total package & keeps you playing it for hours on end just to see what will happen next.
