A superb action adventure game that perfectly combines engrossing combat with a gripping story.
The Bad: Very few (though awesome) boss fights; that's really all I can think of
I was a bit late on the GoW bandwagon. Just two weeks ago, a friend of mine wouldn't shut up about GoW, so I decided to see what this game was all about. Lets just say I'm glad I did.
Gameplay: The fighting is obviously the bread and butter of this game. Swinging you blades of chaos just feels so awesome, it's hard to describe in writing just how much fun it is. You can pull off some sweet special moves, but they don't envolve any lengthy button combo memorization. I think the most buttons you'll ever have to hit to pull of a move is three. There is another weapon you can unlock, the Artemis Blade (or maybe the Blade of Artemis, I forget). Most people I know didn't really like this weapon, but I found myself using it quite often in some tough late-game sequences.
Graphics: Even after playing 360 and some PS3 games, GoW is still a treat to the eyes. You'll be amazed that some of the graphical detail GoW is able to pull of is actually happening on a PS2. I shudder to think what GoW3 will look like.
Sound: This is the first game in a long while that I've played with great voice acting. Kratos sounds just like what you'd expect an angry Spartan warrior to sound like, and the rest of the voices are just as great. The musical score matches the awesomeness of the voice acting in it's loud orchestral booms.
Now that you can get GoW for $20 on the PS2 greatest hits, you have no excuse not to get this game if you haven't already.
Final Thought: Gotta go, need to finish GoW 2!
