Something that you don’t feel like giving up once you have started
God Of War is perfection. Want to know what the PS2 really has under the hood, try God Of War out if you haven’t. Incredible graphics, controls that simply rocks, a main character who’s charisma and deeds will bring you closer and closer to liking him and hate those who are against him, and not to mention boss battles that can take an epic scale. (Well, wait until you see what is in store in God Of War II)
Even though the campaign to destroy Ares is short, the game itself is so engrossing that you will rarely pay attention to the time spent playing. The reason behind it is that the action is sustained and continuous. Rarely you find yourself in an area with no enemies to hack to pieces with your blades of chaos and when there is no minions of Ares waiting, expect to find some puzzles to contend with. The puzzles are primitive!, so to speak, not of the Tomb Raider genre that gets you from one end to the other to activate one switch to open a door.Or that needs you to scratch your head Basically, they are puzzles easily dealt with; which in the end is a good thing as it does not spoil the overall fun.
The path to follow in the game is another aspect that makes the game fantastically good. Not a single time did I find myself wondering where to go next and what to do next to move ahead. This is kind of amazing in itself as it hardly happens this way with action adventure games.
Another nice aspect in the game is the ability to upgrade the weapons and acquired powers.
To sum it all, God Of War is the best PS2 action adventure game that one will find around, until the sequel comes out of course, which is scheduled March 13 2007.
