I really tried to enjoy this game but I just couldn't.
Who thought of this idea, one wasn't enough this honestly killed the game for me sure there were some good parts but the puzzles were tedious the controls were alright, however the R3 stick is used to dodge, and that's fine however it's not really needed and usually the R3 stick is used for the camera and that's another major problem in this game, when you are climbing steep paths you really need the camera to see where your feet are. The story is just ok, I just honestly don't like Kratos, that much, I usually like being the hero in the game, and the problem with Kratos is that they don't make you sympathize with him in the story (spoiler alert) Before Kratos is about to die he calls on Ares the God of War to help him kill his enemies, Ares listens and gives Kratos the blade of Chaos (your main weapon) Soon Kratos becomes mad with power and ends up killing his wife and child. So we are supposed to feel sorry for this guy? He's murdered a bunch of women and children throughout his conquest for power but when the tables are turned on his family it's not okay. So now he is mad at Ares, instead of looking at himself, he's mad at Ares, He basically made a deal with the devil but he chooses to blame someone else, and that's why I not only can't relate with this guy, but I really just am not a fan of him. The beat em up part of the game is actually really good when it doesn't get really repetitive, most of the spells are pretty useful and you can upgrade each one and your weapons and it is a nice addition. One reason I think it gets really repetitive is because most of the enemies you fight are the same type of enemies and there aren't a whole lot of special grapples that make God of War what it is today, most people like to grapple their enemy because you can brutally kill your enemy this way, and part of the problem is there are not many boss fights, and this is just a really another inexcusable flaw, why would you have a beat em up game and not have many bosses for it, I mean there are 3 bosses(I believe) in the whole game that's it why?
Overall I think God of War seems to be confused on what it wants to be a puzzle solving game, or a beat em up game, when it comes to the puzzle solving aspect of the game I just do not appreciate it, however the beat em up parts are pretty good not perfect but are fun for the most part, there are some good parts to this game but they are overshadowed by tedious, cryptic puzzles. I just feel like this one could have been better.
