the game begins on the coast of Attica. where kratos fights with the basilisk and the Persian king. After you beat the Persian king you will get your first magic "the efreet"(some kind of fire god). After you leave Attica, Helios the god of the sun falls from the sky and is kidnapped by Persephone queen of the dead. she takes the power that Helios holds(power of the sun) and hive it to atlas to destroy the tower that holds the world. But there is also another enemy, Morpheus god of the dreams, wants to destroy the gods of Olympus and take over the world. Kratos has to fight the army of Morpheus and get to Hades to stop atlas. Kratos has 2 weapon: the blades of chaos and the gauntlet of Zeus he also has 3 kinds of magic : the efreet, Charon's wrath and light of dawn. Personal I find the sun shield cooler than the golden fleece but less powerful. The third boss is Charon he is the ferryman of the underworld. You fight him 2 times, the first time you lose and you are chained to the walls of tartures but you escape, the second time you kill him for good. your final boss is Persephone in the middle of the fight you chain atlas to the earth, now you know why atlas is so angry at you in gow 2. I see chains of Olympus as a warm-up for god of war 3. I hope that Morpheus will come back in gow 3. gow chains of Olympus is the best game I played for the psp but it's made by readyatdown studios(maker of daxter how was also very good).
